cross sale your own sites?

does anyone here have multiple sites with separate members' areas? if so, do you cross sale your own sites? if so, what has your experience been? do you use the same content throughout your various members areas so you can't cross sell them? maybe the design is similar and surfers would feel like they are paying double for the same site?

I've found that cross selling my sites that fall within different niches works very well.

All of my sites have different content within different niches, that keeps customers happy

I mean, we only have two sites... Fratpad and FratmenTV.

FratmenTV features the full-length, polished and produced movies with a few live shows every week.

Fratpad is more like Naked Jackass.. very Gonzo-porn.. nothing polished, mostly live, seat-of-the-pants stuff. The content is VERY different but it features the same guys.

We cross promote because neither one would really canibalize the other's membership.. in fact we've used content from both sites as supliamental content on the other and it's encouraged a lot of people to join both.

I wouldn't cross sell my own sites. You will get more new members by X-selling with other sites. While you may only get $15-$20 a signup, the amount that they can send you makes it worth it imho.

The only way I would ever cross sell another site I had was if it was radically different from my other sites.

If i ran regular membership sites, I may cross sell a dvd download site I had, or a live cam site I ran, or... you get the idea...

Xselling to your own stuff is dangerous when it comes to CB ratios.

Cross selling to your own sites if done properly can be very lucrative. The nice thing is that you have conttrol over where the cross sells or coming from which helps avoid fraud or misuse from other webmasters.

it's starting to sound like people are saying that if you have sites with totally different niches, then you can cross sell your own sites. the trick i guess is choosing niches that are different enough for you to do such a thing, but similar enough that the customer would be interested in the other niche.

I dont know... my sites are all in the muscle man niche, and we cross sell a lot. Many of our members have subscriptions at all 4 of our sites.

Each site is a little different, and the models are different (or in different condition....)

But my finding is that once they take thier wallet out once for me, they'll do it again!

I don't see the issue with it.

People have odd tastes. I could be into bears and leather as a prime turn-on BUT I have this thing for lumberjacks in jockstraps and if a site I TRUST also has a lumberjack site, I'll give it a try. I may like it so much that I drop my sub. to the bear site. However, I'm now a full time member of the lumberjack site.

I didn't know I liked rocky road ice cream until I tried it and I hardly ever eat chocolate anymore. But Haagen das still gets my money.

But the "same" content on two sites in a cross promotion could turn off a lot of people. It's like buying 2 copies of Runaway bride on dvd because you love it so much.
