Newbie Advice - Whats The Cheapest Way?

Okay for those of you who have been webmastering for several months i figured it would be a good idea for us to share the knowledge we have gained so far about the industy for some of the newer webmasters joining us in the industry.

With that said, what i thought would be good to do is post a list of some of the more cost effective ways newbie webmasters can start working in the industry without utilizing free sponsor content or free hosts.

What we are looking for in this thread is the cheapst of all of the following (including a direct link to the url).

    1) Domain Name
    2) Hosting Plan
    3) Content Set
    4) FTP Software
    5) Traffic (10k hits)
    6) Miscellaneous Stuff

If possible try to keep your answers in the following format to make it easy for new webmasters to see the information you have provided:

    1) http://www.joker.com - $15
    2) http://www.webair.com - $10
    3) http://www.midnightdigital.com - $3
    4) http://www.cuteftp.com - $60
    5) http://www.sex.com - $50

Post your list in this thread and lets see just how low the prices can go for a new webmaster starting in the adult industry today.

    Regards,

    Lee

    1) revsharehosting.com - 5$ a sale
    2) namecheap.com - 8.88$
    3) I always find it's better to invest in content than go the cheap route.

    1 - godaddy.com - $8.95 (registerfly )
2 - mainstream hosts that allow adult are sometimes cheaper in terms of space/bandwith than adult hosts are. just make sure the company has been around for some time. I've hosted on a great host for $19.95/m with lots of space and BW
    3 - maxpixels, ounique - $30 & less
    4 - SmartFtp - Free
    5 - google.com - $50 but you better know what you're doing
    Otherwise LinkMeAllOver and BillysLinks :groovy:

    ~$108.9

    1) http://www.godaddy.com - $8.95 - with sales for $1 to $2 off that price on a pretty regular basis.
    2) http://cyberhostserver.com/trial.htm 1st month free then start at 5.95 (but I'm still going to say www.chilihost.com is best!- reminder: you DO get what you pay for! And service in this business is critical!)
    3) http://mcguire.xphotography.com/free/ - free set
    http://www.carnalhost.com/amateur/ar...t/freesite.htm - free shemale sets
http://www.hotcamera.com/ - free pics and adult games
http://www.freesitecontent.com/livevideo.html free video and cam content
    http://www.zmaster.com/cgi-bin/cash/....cgi/demonduck - free bondage sets
    4) http://www.gold-software.com/download2528.html - Zilla FTP - Free
    5) I haven't bought traffic, so don't have a resource to recommend
6} http://download.com.com/3302-2250-10259256.html Free Winrar download for zipping/unzipping content sets from providers
http://www.freehostedgalleries.com/?page=start Free Hosted Galleries - fast way to fill up a fake tgp - or find out what sponsors are offering hosted galleries. If you don't sign up for the sponsors, and use the links as shown, then that fella gets any signup credits ... so it's worth it to sign up for sponsors that fit your site niches!

if any newbs read this, the hosting that is listed on this thread will not allow to to post galleries - none at all. you will pay $$$ for overages.

you also will not be able to get any avs or free site listed on big link lists.

it is enough for a tgp as long as you do not host any large graphics and you make a very small logo. it is enough if you make an avs or free story site so the content is mostly text.

i don't work much with low bandwidth - what else is it enough for, gww'ers?

Another source for content - massive volume of pics for the buck - check out www.pixmasters.com for their cd packs. They also have some sets starting around $2.99.

But my all time favorite content provider is www.ounique.com - I love the service, the search features, and I can stack up a shitload of various carts :groovy:

That's an excellent point Basschick. I agree that it's critical for the new webmaster to understand from the get go that bandwidth is probably the number one thing they have to consider before deciding what host to sign on with. They HAVE to know what type of site they want to build, how they intend to market, etc, and then make a host decision.

I know for us, not having a clue about bandwidth usage had us signing on with a cheap host and we then found out the hard way that the host package couldn't begin to handle the traffic from even smaller tgp sites.

    Good point Basschick

However, that being said, should new webmasters even be trying the TGP game before they have started building free sites and the likes first?

Personally i think they should home their marketing techniques on free and AVS sites before joining the hardcore TGP'ers.

    Regards,

    Lee

LdyLnWolf1 - when we first started out in 1996, nobody we knew knew a thing about the web. so i went to barnes and noble and read all the hosting ads in all the computer mags. i found one tnat was cheaper than some of the others (hosting was quite expensive then), told them what we were going to do, and off we went.

as our site started to grow, i asked the owner of the hosting company if what we had was enough for an adult site. he said yes. then, at the end of the month, came the $1200 hosting bill!!!!!!!!!

and i remember when asia carrerra started, she hosted her personal website on earthlink - her dialup. a couple mags printed the url and when i dropped by to see how her site was doing, there was a note explaining she was sorting things out and a scan of her $2400 bill from earthlink for overages.

so newbs should probably get their domain set up somewhere cheap to start, and then start asking questions.

lee - even a free site listed on tommy's or pk will use way more than 15 gig in a month.

I have a similar horror story with a 1000$ hosting bill.

What about free hosts for a newbie? Do TGP's and LL's still take free hosts? I think one of the best hosting solutions for newbies is RevShareHosting.com. You only pay on the money you make. If you don't make any money, you don't pay anything in hosting. Plus their support is second to none and Maestro is one of the nicest guys you're ever going to meet. Plus if you get someone to sign up under your referral code you get a percentage of every sale tthey get.

Okay, enough... I don't work for them! If I go on i'll have to send them a bill for my sales pitch.

then you pay a lot in hosting. LOL. but at that point maybe it's the time to go to Chili or something. I have both paid and revsharehosting to this day. And I'm no newbie. I send a revshare a lot of sales, but in the end the support is worth it to me. Plus i'm on dedicated servers there.
