It seems like everyone is launching bareback sites these days, from existing programs through to programs launching their first gay sites.

Do you think that this is indicitive of what gay surfers want or is this more an example of what started happening in the straight side of the business with people running out of ideas and just launching sites based on the most 'extreme' niches these site owners can think of?

Your thoughts, is the gay porn world already heading the way the straight market did in that we're going to have to start offering more and more hardcore/extreme content in order to make sales?

If your theory is right that the straight market felt they had to get more extreme to make sales then their logic is flawed.

The key to making money is giving the surfers of your particular niche what they want. Extreme content is a niche, not an end destination of a mainstream porn migration.

You are right bareback porn in and of itself isnt an extreme niche however, i feel that many of the companies launching bareback porn sites are doing so because they view it as 'extreme' the same way in the straight market throat gagging is viewed as extreme.

Looking over several of the new sites that have been launched in the last 6 months you can clearly see that bareback porn IS being marketed by many companies (gay and straight) as 'extreme'.

i'd say that college guys are the new twink, but bareback is certainly a close second.

it's always interesting to watch as a large number of companies jump on a bandwagon and oversaturate the niche so well that it stops selling any better than general.

Seems to me that there has been so much hype about Bareback within the Industry (articles on boards, AVN, GAYVN, Xbiz) and how cliche it is, but that it is selling; that several content producers and webmasters felt inspired to jump on the bandwagon. Definitely wouldn't be the first time

Just thought that I would let you guys know how things are currently going over at AEBN...
As of friday, out of the top 10 best selling movies (for the month)
2 were straight.
2 were non-bareback.
I think 3 had at something to do with military (either themed, or military guys)
I'm fairly sure I remember Muscle being in the categories at least four or five times. Maybe more.

So yes... Bareback sells better for us. Whether that's indicative of the demand, or just the over-whelming supply...

As a side note, though... Personally, I'd go to Chili's boyfriend site. I find it closer to my own tastes. :x
