    google PR updates - yuck!

Google did a major PR update and it has been fully replicated now so you can see your new PR values via the google toolbar. All I have to say is YUCK!!! Most of my sites dropped in PR, including some pretty heavy drops too. Apparently, this PR update has caused quite a few sites to drop massively in their values, and there has been a lot of complaints over this one.

have you ever tried to do any hardlink or traffic swaps? PR is totally relevant for that, which in turn leads to relevancy in traffic and inbound links.

Yes, my main site has just dropped to page two in keyword search, again in favor of some off topic sites and pages with dead links leading to nowhere. Thanks google, great job..

One of my main pages dropped in PR. Funny thing is that domain still gets about the same number of Google hits as before the reranking (only about 1/4 of the hits it gets from Yahoo, by the way)

All of my sites dropped 1 rank point as well. I think 4PR is the new 5PR.

It really has to do with penalties being issued by Google. In all actuality Google is beginning to realize that their PR system doesn't really work. The PR changes have affected some sites in the main index. One site maintained it's PR7 but lost "certain" keywords. Those keywords being "buy text ads".

This is what google is fighting with the new PR. Google is assuming that some may do hardlink trades for cash. They don't like that at all.

Sites in mainstream that use to advertise listings for cash on their main sites are now doing in forums only. Kinda a cool underground movement going on.

    Angry PR's relevence

I *wish* PR had superior relevance. Unfortunately, this Google update once again seems to flush significant aspects of my website down the toilet. I just do not get it. Once upon a time, when people googled porn star names or movies, I appeared pretty well.

Now, the surfer gets mostly catalog results with near zero original content. Or stupid blogs containing pure bolus material.

For example, I used to rank number one on Buckleroos, a popular COLT movie from several years ago. My Buckleroos movie review *still* has a page rank of 2, but despite that the results Google returns are ones from

    cduniverse (PR = 0)
    fleshbot (PR = 1)
    bijouworld.com (PR = 0)
    BuyGay.com (PR = 1)

Nevertheless, Luke, I agree wholeheartedly with your conclusion: YUCK!

    Desslock,

PR is just one aspect of how you come up in the main engine, and I believe Google is relying on it less. I REALLY REALLY believe that PR is becomming less important now.

Hate to say it, nut I am sure those pages in the online stores probably have more linbound links w/ good anchor text.

I have some PR 0 pages that beat the hell out of 3's for certain keywords.

At this point, and with what people THINK google is doing in regards to PR, I am NOT trying to boost my PR up anymore. At least for a while.

If a site with good revelant content wants to do a trade w/ good anchor text, then I am game. Don't really care about it's PR. I would rather be in the Main Index with a zero PR than not be in it with a PR 5.
