    Tipping off feds to 2257

I have seen a user post many times that someone has or he could tip off the feds for 2257 inspection on other people.

    This gives me 2 questions.

    1: Can this be done

2: if so, can this be used against content theft?

Example: joe blow runs a stolen content blog - company x tips the feds to inspect blog owner for 2257 - blog owner has nothing - blog owner goes to jail

I honestly don't see this as a yes answer but had to ask because I have seen no one buck this person for the comments. Or maybe it was him rejecting the question and failing to answer.

    Anyway,

    Food for thought

Agent Joyner said recently in a meeting with FSC people that the FBI is not currently inspecting companies who are mostly or exclusively secondary producers, due to the lack of final regulations for 2257A/4472, so on that tip, I doubt seriously that anything would come of it.

Secondly, somebody very loudly claimed recently that they were DEMANDING that the FBI inspect so-and-so company, and that FBI was REQUIRED to inspect if they received a request to do so. That's complete BS (but so is 90% of the other stuff in the blogosphere.)

Like everything else, the FBI's resources are limited and stretched, and they go after the things that they consider highest priority... in the case of porn, that's evidence of CP (and that's real CP, not a single instance of somebody 17 with a fake ID) or clearly-over-the-line obscenity, etc.

I mean, I'm sure that there are factors that can contribute to causing a particular company or individual to be investigated, but one guy sending a letter or contacting his or her congressperson won't do shit.

It is my opinion that unless the site that is reported has a huge cache of pre-pubescent child pron the FBI will ignore all of the Mrs. Cravitz' out there.

If you find someone stealing your content, the FBI is not going to help you. They have not exactly gone out of their way to help the music recording industry [who have a lot more clout than the adult industry] so they certainly are not going to drop everything to investigate the claims of some 2nd rate partially employed self-proclaimed "webmaster"
