I Wonder? How Do You Choose Your Color Schemes?

Do you have a specific method of choosing a color theme for any new sites you are going to be building or do you just goes with whatever looks best at the time?

Im about to start putting together 20 movie sites for a new program and im finding it difficult coming up with some good color schemes for these new sites

    Regards,

    Lee

for the most part, follow the niche. If it's all the same niche, go with colors that show off the images.

When I think country guys I think Brown. Brown boots, Brown horse, Brown horse saddle, Brown wooden shack, Brown belt leather...

Think of the niche in real life and the guys in it. You will find color themes that seem to be heavy in their every day activity and it just works well with the niche. IMO

I agree, I try to see what colors are naturally associated with the niche or product, to sort of add emphasis or whatever it is called

If it's in the straight side of things, pink is popular.

Going with standard color schemes is good advice, but I feel you should really do your research and see what's out there and take the standard and build on it. You want your site to stand out both in presentation and in quality. Don't be afraid to start out basic, but eye catching and then build from there. It allows you to try new and interesting things while allowing your clients to view the product and watch it grow. The changes will keep the site fresh, up to date and "new".
