    Are Paysites Worth Getting Into??

Here is a question that has been on the top of my mind???

" I have been talking with various people and one of my best friends ( I said one so dont take any guesses cause I have lots of friends ) was telling me paysites are just not worth getting into anymore. People are not interested and everyone just keeps seeing there membership numbers drop and drop and there revenue with it.

Then I was talking with some other people that are very successful it seems with there paysites .
They seem very happy with theres and continue to dumps tons of time and effort into them.

I on the other hand am working on something, I dont really wanna go into talking about half baked things yet. Im working on a paysite in colleberation with another content shooter out of australlia and I just want to make sure that Im making a good decision and paysites are not really becoming a thing of the past.

I mean it sounds silly to me to think for the first time in history the internet is booming more than ever that actual paysites would be worthless and not worth making?
Is this some sort of message trying not to get me to make one cause then it makes more competition? I dunno...

It just seems there is money to be made and the stuff Im working on has not really been done well or if at all. I have a different take and twist on everything as you can tell. I think it will be amazong only if just to look at. I dont really care about becoming rich that doenst interest me at all. What interests me is creating something that is a fantasy of mine that is really spectacular I can be proud of then tweak around to see how it works in the future.

Back to the real question at hand though:
Is there really money Launching paysites and if so.. Should I worry about MOVIE more than photos. Personally I like photos better because of how I jack off and I seem to never get board of my photo collection but I do if I watch the same video over and over to much just not as fun to jack off to it anymore.

So what are some key things to stay focused on?
Also what makes a paysite sell in your opinion?
I know there is various anwsers to that question it seems very vague but all the anwsers one could get from such a vague question could help on numerous levels especially if they are coming from the people from this room which are webmaster pros.

P.s. Please let me know what you think?!?! Please excuse all missed words and grammar errors and it is hard for my type sometimes depending on how ready my brain is to work. I just woke up.

Hey, I thought I would drop my 2 cents in here. I have only been online 1 year now with our paysite, VERY pleased on how things are going. Actually I have beat my predictions on where we are at today by 100%.

I honestly have to say that "becomming rich is a motivation for me", and to have something that will allow me to do whatever outside the "blue" or "white collar" box, that will equal a happy lifestyle that I have allways dreamed of. I cannot comprehend that others have have other reasons for shooting and selling porn, but I guess its possibile. I personaly have met guys who were in the biz for the "ohhs and awwws" and maybe the prestige of it all, but not sure if they got anywhere. Whats the point of having a pretty website that gets no traffic or has any sales?

If your up on reading some good tips on paysites, go here, and make sure you check out his archives:

You have to find a market that will be profitable for you, either if its twinks, bondage, or something totally new... I think you know that. I am pretty sure you can throw anything out there there these days. Focus on: Promoting the site well (affiliate program and paid banner/text advertising/TGP/Blogs), have decent quality content, frequently updated, and make sure the visitor visiting the site feels like he is in a candy store! I am getting my site re-designed here in the next few months, because its missing the "Las Vegas effect". Think about las vegas, the blinking lights and colors is what draws people in to spend money!

Far, as content, I personaly go towards videos, but I know a guy who is making 200K+ a year, just on photos. He runs a straight porn site featuring first time amateurs next door.

Its a crowded place on the internet these days, but like I tell my partner all of the time. For every guy that doesnt want to got to you site anymore, 10 fill his place. I think someone told me that 30,000+ people a day are signing up for a broadbad internet connection worldwide. I may be off of the numbers. I used to run google analytics, and it was showing me that over 80% of the visitors that were comming to my site, were there for the first time and we were doing 5,000 daily uniques back then.

Lastly, the affiliate program is what kicks you into second gear! I was amazed on the results that it gives you. Basicly, you have people sending you free traffic. Yes, techinacally you are paying them, but again its an awesome tool. I think the bottom line is, there is plenty of room for you out there and to be successful.

I don't by any means think paysites are not worth getting involved with, but I do think it's much harder to build them into very large profit machines than it was a few years ago. We are planning on launching a new site within the next several months.

Consider the cost of buying or shooting content, paying the Visa fee ($750) at at least one processor (and preferably two), buying a CMS, getting the site designed, and then constantly having to shoot or buy new content and prepare it for updating every week... dealing with customer service issues, etc...it's not an inexpensive or easy undertaking.

The other issue is, there are so many programs out there it's a challenge to get affiliates to promote a sponsor program with only one site.

On the other hand, it's simple to start getting your own traffic and referring it to a dozen or two sites. You get 50% of the revenues you'd get if you operated the program and had affiliates sending you the majority of traffic, but you also have no Visa fees, no CMS, no aggravation with customer issues, and you can actually have better conversion because you have many different options to send your traffic to and can modify and refine what sites you're marketing based on changing conversion patterns.

In short, what I advise new webmasters is to focus on traffic first, learn to develop and use the traffic, and then, once you've become skilled at that, open a website and use your traffic skills to direct traffic to your own site *if* you decide you simply must have your own site.

    my nickels worth

i dont think its a matter of it being a paysite as much as its a matter of the content. Its time for uniqness and maybe really focusing in on one niche and being great at it not just good. just my take on it all

Our site has been up for Ten years this coming April. It is a great undertaking and you can expect to spend an immense amount of time working on your pay site. We begin our daily routine around 6AM and there is someone doing something site oriented until 2 or 3AM the next morning. Our site is large, we have TWO locations, and it takes more time and effort to keep everything up and running. We love it though. The financial rewards can be a little sparse some times, but you suck it up and make a greater effort to bring in more business. It's really not any different than any other business. It requires a quality product that is well marketed and well represented. If you have all of those pieces in place and the right people on board, you can accomplish great things. The pay site market isn't dead or dying....the consumer has just gotten tired of half-ass, thrown together sites of content that you can get anywhere on the web. Keep it original, fresh and always changing and you'll reap the rewards.

Yes if you're willing to put the effort into really giving people something they're hungry for and not just a little bit of something being offered on a thousand other sites. Just my opinion.

The effort and time are not big deal to me and I already have a merchant account so Im sure it will be no big deal getting things all done with CCBILL AND EPOCH I just wanted to make sure that paysites are still producing revenue if done right.
    I figured these things already
    Work your ass off
Shoot tons of butt content ( which will be fun for me )
I already know about CMS's and how to build them and I already have one for a paysite that is working quite well.
I mean I know what I gotta do and what has to be done.
I just wanna make sure there is a future in them and they are worth making money off of because some people were trying to tell me other wise.
So thanks all the help you guys.
I love it so much and it is has been amazing you guys took a moment to give me the excellent advice.

I know a few long-time producers who are writhing a bit now that the terrain is MUCH more competitive. They seem to be surprised that, since they are not the only game in town anymore, they have to actually run a business, not a money press.

So it's true what cbl said, it's just like any other business now. Smart content, marketing, efficiency, all that "hard stuff" are the components of success.

I'm not yet convinced that free porn or ripoffs of commercial content are the main problem today. More it seems like there's a natural shakeout happening. Quality will survive, as always.

I would recommend to anyone thinking of starting their first paysite to only do it if they have something different to offer. The market is getting oversaturated with sites with no POV. You can take the same content from a boring site and make it exciting by just adding some love and care to the mix. I think the generic megasites may have some great content but I immediately yawn when i visit their tours.

agreed! on "uknakedmen" ( if that's the company ) , it's not the men so much but the photography which is "clean" , "experimental" , and most important..."masculine!" ( interpreted: you bitches are making me break a sweat! trying to keep up!...oops , did i just say that out loud? )

In regards to the question so long as people buy content i will continue to produce. ( interpreted: it's very hard to retire from something you love to do which is also very ca$h lucrative. )

    sincerely ~ ..." i want your sex " - george michael
