Does anyone else here promote these free webcam sites? I have been promoting them for awhile but I'm starting to think they do some major shaving. I don't want to mention who the compeny is exactly but it is one of the more well know ones. These cam sites are paying 35 - 125 per free signup I almost think they would have to be shaving some.
I am thinking the same about some of them, but also have no proof.
But it is real strange to have about 5000 hits with no sale.
Cam sites are an odd beast.
Fratpad isn't a "free" cam site, it's more of a live reality show, but it's still a cam site at the core.
Some of our top-performing affiliates for Fratmen.TV have only done so-so with Fratpad, whereas some who've only done so-so with Fratmen.TV have sold Fratpad like gang-busters.
It has a lot to do with the kind of traffic that you your self have and less to do with the cam site itself.
Our payout isn't anywhere near $125 per sale, it's $25. But the "free" camsite model is different. Most of the customers they get are "Freetards." They don't pay for anything, they just hang out in the free area and ask for a peep show. Once a customer is willing to open up their wallet, however, they're worth a LOT more than $125 each.
At Fratpad, it's a bit different. Many customers just stay regular members and don't take part in any upsells at all. The customers who DO take advantage of the upsells like private shows, pay per view shows and merchandise are worth their weight in gold. It's not out of the ordinary for a single customer to pay in the thousands for some private time with a model.
For a "free" cam site, this is just more pronounced. They don't pay you for the "freetard" customers that you send.. the ones who just hang out in the free area and say "Show me your pubes." But they know that the guys who are willing to open up their wallets and pay for a little private time with one of the guys will most likely be the kind of guy who comes back again and again and again to get his fix with the models.
your payout is so high because your conversion rate is so low.

I don't think they shave, I think they have a very strict interpretation of what a legitimate free signup is, in order to generate a commission. There are some questions I have never been able to get answered, and stopped promoting them months ago.
My guess, and this is simply a guess...
A visitor has to register and buy time immediately to generate a commission.
If you send someone to one of the sites, they register, and don't buy anything on that initial visit, you no longer get credit for anything they might spend in the future. The only way they can pay $125 for a free signup... which isn't really correct.. is by having a very tight control on what they define as a "free sign up".
Their entire "free webcam" concept is basically flawed, it attracts the freetards (as jasun so aptly named them) in droves, and conversions are going to be shit. Add in a very tight restriction on what qualifies as a signup, and you're going to spin your wheels throwing traffic at them, in hopes of the "big payday". It just won't happen in most instances.
Flirt4Free is the only one I've found that does ok, since they pay revshare, and their VIP membership will sell. They don't seem to be as elusive when defining what you can get paid for. However at $5.99 per minute, its not an easy sell. When the name is Flirt4FREE, but it costs $5.99 a mninute, no one really reads the flirting part, they just see FREE and then get pissed off.

That is why I didn't mention any company by name. There are numerous webcam companies out there.
I don't understand how companies can do affiliate programs on cam sites. If the model gets 55% and the processor pulls 13.5%, there is not much to go to the sponsor or affiliate. Especially with license fees and other overhead.
How we do it is that we're set up differently than most cam sites.
The main draw of the site isn't private one-on-one shows, it's the guys all hanging out together. This means that there's a regular membership fee, and if you want to up-sell to a private show with one of the guys, you can do that.
In that respect, I guess we're a very unconventional cam site. It's also why most people who don't "do well with cam sites" do well with ours.
HOWEVER.. it's like the big-box clearing house sponsors who have 15 sites who do those weeks where they pay out $100 per sale. They KNOW their sites suck and they know that customers aren't going to stay members. But what those companies now have is a list of people who are willing to pay for porn, and that becomes their email database of customers that they can hit over and over again with advertising.
THAT's how they do it.

Got it. Makes sense. No membership fee, pay by the minute cam sites like ours do have our share of 'freetards' (love the name btw) but plenty of paying folks. The costs are just too steep to create an affiliate program for our type of cam site.
Jasun im going to start pushing you again. Your one of the people i just stopped promoting when i had some blank moment (no idea why i just went on a wonder) but you did convert really well (frat men tv).

Also for the record, pussy cash dont shave. People do make great money with them. A company who shaves will let you make a few sales to get you moving then turn on the shave, but there is no point in a company shaving people who have never made a sale.

that's how they can afford it
i know a few people in eeastern europe who are cam models for some big sites
they get paid about 60 cents per minute out of the ~$4/minute a cam site charges
when we talked last time they told me they were required to work 8-10hrs a day
couple of the guys told me they had to cum like 8-9 times during their shift
Jasun, We have promoted Fratmen for some time now and I have always wanted to try promoting FratPad but to tell you the truth the site never looked finished to me. There are very few preview images and the entry pages just don't describe what they get very well. I love your content and have done good with fratmen but the fratpad preview pages just to me doen't seem to showcase your cams very well. That is just my opinion. I have never tried to promote FratPad so i'm just going on first impressions here. Are there any new plains for FratPad in the furture?

Fratpad is about to do something completely different.
We're going to start "seasons" on Fratpad... a 4-month run like a real reality show.. with a set cast, challenges, a story line and a new setting.
I can't say much just yet until all of the particulars are settled, but it's going to have a VERY different feel from anything that's ever been done on either the straight or gay side.
As far as the tour goes, it is rather low-key, but it seems to give away all the necessary info. I guess this is where I ask you all how you'd improve it, since we're going to have to make some big changes as we change the site.
