Program Owners - When You Launch New Sites...

Do you have any concerns about whether the newer sites being launched will affect sales to your existing site offerings?

For example, lets say you know that a specific niche, in this example lets use lesbian midgets, far outsells your ebony tranny site, if you were going to launch another lesbian midget site, how heavily does the fact that this new site could make existing sales to your current site drop?

Is it even a concern for you?

Im stuck in this situation right now and really cant decide what to do about it.

I'm no traffic expert, but if it's in the same niche, I think I'd probably be inclined to do a different tour using different pics and put the energy into enhancing the one site rather than launching two sites that compete against each other, then put energy into a different niche and bring out a site that will attract a different type of traffic entirely.

Definitely go for it Lee, you will gross more for sure. You become your own competition, yes, but you are the owner. It's better that you put up a second lesbian midget site than someone else. If that lesbian midget niche is hot, it's only time before another program does the same.

Benefits of the new-same-niche-site scheme include:
1) Cross sales from withing member area of site #1 to site #2 and vice versa.
2) Upsells from site #1 to site #2 and vice versa. For instance, "Join Site #1 for 24.95 or get Site #1 and #2 for 29.95!"
3) Bonus offer. "Join Site #1 and get free access to Site #2!"
4) Narrowing the possibility another program will produce something similar. You "saturate" the market by yourself.

You may lose a % of sales to your original site, yes, but you will gain an even greater % from the sales made by your second site.

you know right now I'm working on a documentary about Fratpad and it's early days and we talk about this exactly, how in the first few days of Fratpad, virtually all of the people in the chat room were just members of Fratmen.TV and we were scared that we were going to cannibalize our own membership and not bring in a new audience.

We took a rather odd step of not advertising to our own members for for first couple months and just went after new members (which is hard when you have no affiliate program and you're used to having a HUGE database of customers to whom you regularly advertize... ones who have proven that they're willing to open up their wallets and buy what you're selling).

the reason we did this was to see if we could find a totally new audience or if what we had was really just going to appeal to our existing customer base.

Not really a good use of your time.

It makes more sense to have ONE Lesbian little-person site that's better than anyone else's. Concentrate on the quality of your lesbian little person site more than make two half-assed lesbian little person sites.
