    Free Site Design Question...

Actually, a couple of questions to those of you that build free sites on a regular basis....

    1) Why do very few free sites seem to have an FPA between the index page and navigation page these days, in days past i made most of my sales via the FPA before surfers even got to the content, do you think if i used this older method of building on some new hosted free sites for Condom Cash it would be seen a plus or a negative?

    2) When it comes to the 'content' on the free site, do you think matching up the header graphics and promo materials with the models being used on the free site will ensure better click thrus to the tour or wont it have any effect?

Right now im working on some movie sites and im wanting to build free hosted sites that utilize both stills and movies for the content but im wanting to go 'old skool' with the designs and wondered what you thought about that?

    Regards,

    Lee

I found that not many sponsors offer FPA / HPA and if so "just" one or two but literally hundreds of 468x60/468x80

you mean a passthru page? not sure that link lists would use hfs with a passthru page, but this would be really good to find out!

As Patti mentioned, a lot of link lists stopped allowing the fpa pass thru before showing the gallery links in order to get listed. As usual -- abuse of the page (deleting the 'no thanks - show me the galleries' link after listing) resulted in the ruling.

If you have your own link lists and traffic properties, you can of course setup the free site any way you wish.

    1) For a sponsor-hosted free site, do incorporate an FPA on the site. As the affiliate will be posting the link on his/her own hub/directory/link list, it is to everyone's advantage to have this high-sales page in the click flow.

    2) From what I've heard from sponsors recently, matching models and promo materials increases sales. I've been encouraged to route the banner/photo link of a model to the sponsor page featuring that model.

well... i can see a potential downside. a link list that posts a lot of freesites with passthrough pages could start losing bookmarkers. that is why many link lists stopped allowing passthrough pages in the first place.

No it wasnt, link lists stopped allowing them because the submitters were making the sales, not the link list owner.

    Yes it is.

But the link list owners didnt like that fact and cut down the amount of 'ads' submitters could have on their submitted sites.

I tend to disagree a bit on this one.

The straight side has always had pretty much the same standard (as far as the outbound links go). The gay side has always been more lenient.

To me, it was never a choice of being afraid that a submitter was making a sale and I wasn't. It was simple math - 50 sites a day versus 20 getting submitted. Which ones had to go? The ones that had FPA's. Why? Because all sites have now is reused sponsor content anyways. Why torture a bookmarker with an ad before they get to see content that they have already seen a thousand times.

Link list owners fight for bookmarkers. A surfer that has hit the links has already been exposed to the link list owners ads and decided not to buy.
