i ran into a problem ripping DVDs for a client - some of their DVDs play without sound on my computer and also rip without sound, but play fine on my DVD player. any ideas on what my computer may be missing? i figure it's a codec, but not sure which one...

I presume you have DivX?
I ran in to that problem before and after i installed the latest DivX codec things seemed to work fine again.
