I'm not loving this, anyone using smart thumbs, I need questions answered..
1. What is the url to the main page?
2. How the hell do you post the galleries after they are imported, there is no approval command in ST control panel.

4. This was difficult to install and I'm not sure I have a first page. The template is up, examples, index.php, index.shtml, index.html which one and in what directory does it need to be?
5. How do you customize the webmaster partner signup page?

There are tons more questions, but no one is replying in ST Support Forum.

Sorry I'm no ST expert and yes, their support is not the fastest. I would recommend asking at a board where lots of guys use ST, like on ADX for example, they will help you.

1) do you mean the admin page? its http://www.domain.com/st/admin/rotator.php
2) I believe you have to use the scan option

4) I have found ST to be one of the easiest scripts in the world to install. You just create a db, create the ST directory and chmod 777, upload their install file and call it from a browser and it does all the server checks, file copying, database setup, etc, all within about 2 minutes. Your main index page should be in your root directory, ie, at http://www.domain.com/index.php

I hope this all helps, I have installed ST about 200 times and coincidentally I am finally setting it up on my very own TGP this week, so far its a fairly easy learning curve.

I installed it correctly, bulk loaded a bunch of galleries, scaned them, but nothing ever showed up on the index.php page.

So, I tried Comus, Even Worse, It was a nightmare but now it's over.. I deleted it all and called it a day.. I just loaded all the galleries on my homepage and went to bed... Now all I need is to actually learn how it works then try it again one day..

I'm not giving up... after scanning all galleries and picking the images to use, what then do I do?

Templates? I want to use example_template2.html. When I build around this, what directory to I save it to? and what name to save it as?

Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried asking for help at www.askdamagex.com as well? The forum is full of people that are running tgp sites and using the smart-thumbs script.

Also, Luke (chilihost) is in the middle of moving, and they turned off his internet service early, so he may not be able to respond to you for awhile.

I think smart scripts is a great script if there instructions WERE COMPLETE. What I hate about their forums is that you describe your problem in detail including the permission settings for the directory, you wait 24 hours to get a one line question asking what permission setting is directory so and so. You have to submit the answer that was included in the original help request and now wait another 24 hours.

You waste so much time using their forums for help.

Got a clean install at tgp.musclehound.com Now I guess my question would be, where is the index.php file, do you have to create it from the template, is it a blank file just called index.php or what?

If i have edited my st_example1.hmtl... and it created a st_index.html... no thumbs showed up + if I want a splash page, where to put it and what to call it???

I'm confused on operations. How do you get the scanned thumbs/galleries to show up? Really difficult to learn. NOVICES STAY AWAY....

I really don't get why you simply ask Bepe or Godsmacked from ST for help instead of posting every single step here :shock: I know they are not the fastest guys but you can hit them up via ICQ and will have your problems fixed within 30 minutes or so...

Just an advice...
