I would expect this story to be in the national media soon. A story where they can report that the personal data of millions of porn site consumers has been compromised is certainly something of great interest.
I post here to whore this sig.

Well. think about it. Anna Nicole has already died again (heard it on the news a few times already. That best of 2007 shit). So if Anna can die again, I think the news agencies want something fresh to report.

500 sites is one-third of the industry? Who researched this? And that host claims to have 40% of adult sites yet I've never heard of them

In all honesty, this whole "story" is a yawner as far as the fears of the media spreading the "news" and losing signups.

You'd be better served to worry about rapid share and torrents.

Anything that cast a doubt in the consumer or your affiliates mind is not a good thing. It can make a difference between someone pulling out their credit cards or not.

For example, with Mcaffee's siteadvisor, if your site has a BIG RED X next to it on searches or gives a warning popup when you land on the site, would you be willing to risk giving out information to make a purchase?

As a consumer, why would I risk my information being stolen when I can go somewhere else with similar product that does not have any negative publicity attached to it.

The thing with that is though, how many surfers do you actually think know what affiliate link code is generated by Nats vs. CCBill?
