Anyone Have A Way To Track Type In / SE Sales?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good method to track type-in/SE paysite sales?

Im getting a heap of SE traffic right now for some new sites im testing out unfortunately, i have no way of knowing which keywords are generating the sales

Does anyone have an idea (or a method) of how this can be tracked effectively please?

That wont tell him which keyword sent the sales, only the hits.

One way is to set up different accounts or campaigns for the keywords and use scripting to work out which keywords sent the click based on the ref id (the keywords are in there) but its a long way round.

Would be much simpler if you had you own affiliate script.

Affiliate software is def the way to go but you can get a fine stats with google analytics and a tracking pixel on the member sale confirmation page

Google Analytics will track all your sales by keyword... you just need to set it up properly.

This may not be a good idea, but it works for us.

I wanted a easy way of finding out where our signups came from, so I just designed a small php script that inserts the following into our mysql database each time a unique IP comes to our website.

$time = time();
$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
$page = $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'];
$referer = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'];

The insert code is on all of our main pages so I have a pretty good idea of where all of the people are comming from. I also run another table in the database with postback (signup) information from ccbill, and that way I can match up the signup IPs from referers, and get a nice output of where our signups are comming from.

You should see entries like:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=twink+hardcore

and you will be able to see what keywords are bringing in the best leads. You can then sort based on website URLs. The downside is that your tables grow in size rather fast if you get alot of trafffic, but can be rotated.

For us, I developed a php script using regular expressions to check the source of the traffic. It does not do much for the keywords but I created it so that it integrates in with ccbill and it is tracked through a affiliate code.
