.htaccess can search in 2 different .htpasswd files?

I think the anwser is no, but you may want to look into .htgroup

no, but there are scripts that run via a cron job (say every minute) that combine the two password files into one big one. Also, check out strongbox as they support "site jumping" so you may be able to setup 2 unique login areas (one to the members area and one to a secure landing page only) and then use the "jump" feature for members logging into the secure landing page to get to the members area.
