I think this could be a good thing. Google has to much power on the net. If Yahoo can give them more competition maybe it would level the field a bit.
What benefit would we have in having one super-power in Google to two super powers, one of which would be Microsoft? That would mean less competition. How would less competition be good for anyone?
Frankly, Google's power stems from people preferring to use them. If they went evil, all of their traffic could shift away in a moment. I tend to feel that Google deserves to be in the position they're in.

Yes, I do have what you're looking for.
I really do not think Google at this point should be considered a monopoly. It is not like they went off and purchased up all the other search engine companies out there. They grew themselves to this point because they have a really good product. If you had over 50% of the gay porn market share that you grew yourself because you have a really good product, and the other guys gave up because their product sucked, why is it your fault that the other guy decided to fold and leave the industry?
Yahoo brought this misery on themselves because they could not innovate fast enough and in the end they had to play catchup with google. Don't punish Google because there idea worked and the other guys did not.
Yahoo, Altavista, AOL all snoozed while google came out with better algoritims for there search. So why blame Google for their success and forward thinking?
Every show that I go to, all you hear about is Google this and Google that. If we in the gay porn industry really though that Yahoo and Yahoo Search Marketing was as good as Google's services, we would not be spending crap load of time and money trying to optimize for Google.
These are old news. MS only made an offer to Yahoo. But Yahoo denied. And they are looking forward into merging with Google instead.. That would certainly mix cards for MS to dominate the world.
Right. Yahoo is in a tough position now. They had a premium offer that they had to consider. Since the offer was made, they had to keep the best interest of share holders in mind. Which means they couldn't just decline it. Which means they can go out and seek a suitor. However if it becomes hostile, then I don't believe Google can be active in that due to anti-trust regs. But right now Yahoo would prefer to merge their ad network and search with Google.
