Salut Les Boys,
As I just started working for Lee and everything, I've kept what I do under wraps with the family as they are definitely not so open-minded about sex.
Are you guys open about what you do with your family and friends?

I'm weird about it...
Most of my friends and family know; but it's not something i just come outright and say. My family seems to be pretty cool about it, but they are also uniquely accepting of things most aren't. My friends are all cool with it, I think a lot are actually slightly envious . But i think all the people i know also know who i really am, and that this is an actual JOB for me where i work in a professional manner. Would probably be very different if i was in front of the camera.
Now, when I meet new people...i won't just say "I work in porn" when they ask what I do. I usually give the vague "I work in Internet Media" and promptly change the subject. I usually won't give any specifics until I know the person better. Part of it is because I don't want people to judge me right off the bat, based on my job. Other part i think is cuz i don't want people asking for free porn, .
It's kinda like my being gay...it's nothing i'm ashamed of; but not something I'll walk around advertising. I feel it's on a need to know basis, and i'm the judge of who needs to know
just me anyway...

I work in a respectable, legal industry and I don't screw people over.
It's not like I'm a lawyer or a priest or a Republican.
I tell everyone what I do and if it's a problem with them, they're cordially invited to lick my hole.
I'll never understand people who hide what they do from their families because of their families neurosis. Why should I have to re-arrange my life and become a liar if I'm not the one with the problem?

Well everyone in my SF friend world know, and some work here too. Its only been 6 weeks haven't quite told the rentals just yet exactly what I do. I've said Internet Marketing. We'll see this coming Thanksgiving with 100 blood relatives what happens. Ill figure it out then, meanwhile I'm super happy so thats what matters in my world.

Keeping you out of trouble is easier than getting you out of trouble!

I do exactly the same thing. Part of meeting someone for the first time, and all the typical questions they ask, is so they can make a judgment about you.
Also, you're not lying as internet media is a big part of what we do
The only time I've every said I'm Gay, right upfront when meeting someone, was when two mormons came to the house last week. First thing I said after their initial shpeal was "I'm Gay", then I introduced them to my son, that was so fun! :bunny:
Meh.
My boyfriend works at a high-end architectural firm. I go to the staff Christmas party and the Summer picnic and I meet lots of people there.
They ask me what I do for a living and I say "I make adult movies" since "Porn" sounds so... confrontational.
If they don't get it, THEN I say "I make porn."
I'm quite open about it, but not in their faces. I've always found that everything from telling people that I make porn to telling models that I'm gay..
If YOU make a big deal about something, THEY will react like it's a big deal. If you just mention it like it's no big deal and act like it's nothing, they'll take their cues from you. Like how I never actually tell models I'm gay.. it just comes up in conversation and I act like they always knew (so they don't have to muster up a reaction of some kind) and it's not a big deal.
