You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Child Porn And *********** On The Rise In Australia

CHILD pornography seizures by customs are at a record high, with a four-fold surge in the trafficking of sexually explicit images of young children in the past year.

The illegal importation of scenes of bestiality and hard-core sexual violence towards women has also risen significantly, Australian Customs has revealed.

This flood of images through Australian airports and international mail has come as child pornography traffickers seek to avoid detection online, where police crackdowns included the recent arrest of 24 Australians, including seven Victorians, and the seizure of more than 1 million sexually explicit images of children as young as six months.

Customs national manager of investigations Richard Janeczko told The Sunday Age that the importation of child pornography, which carries a maximum penalty of $275,000 and/or 10 years' imprisonment, was expected to rise further this year. "We're now getting at least one major pornography seizure a month and we are seeing that at least half of that is child pornography," he said. "We are talking about the top end of abhorrent pornography."

Mr Janeczko, who is responsible for customs investigations throughout Australia, said recent discoveries on mobile phones, CDs, DVDs and digital memory sticks also included images of women being forced to have sex with men wielding knives and guns. Other films showed women being forced to engage in sexual acts with horses and dogs.

"You're talking about degrading people for a profit," he said. "These videos and tapes encourage people to just treat women as sex objects."

Child Wise chief executive Bernadette McMenamin said the seizures were "just the tip of the iceberg of what's coming into the country on planes and on the internet".

Im not sure what to make of this actually, whilst id agree we need to get this stuff off the streets (and the net) im wondering if it because of society as a whole why we are starting to see a rise in patently offensive/illegal pornography?

Have we become desensitized to violent porn over the past few years because it has been made readily available on the web do you think?

    Regards,

    Lee

yes, that could be it...on the net, tv, dvd's etc etc. At least theyre catching these bastards who do this kinda stuff but I think more needs to be done. I have always had the opinion that people who have an addiction to child porn need help. Its like a sickness and as all sicknesses, they need some sort of help.
Just what that help is, I dont really know.

it may not be that there's more of it - it may be that we're getting better at finding the material. before everyone was worried about terrorism, we did a lot less looking into people's stuff.

This is nothing new to Australia, or America. Hell in America we have the show "to catch a predator" capitalizing and making entertainment of would be child molesters being caught on camera, and interviewed, before the act.
