Google Bot visits but does not index

I am trying to set up a new mainstream site where I have a script that records ips of any visitors.

The site has no traffic, and most of the IPs trace back to SE bots. Google Bot visits at least once every day. Yet when I look at Google's cache, it hasn't been updated since the 12th. The content is dynamic and changes often.

Anyone knows what's going on?

To my knowledge there hasnt been any significant updates to Google yet.

It can take over a month to get listed in the SERPs.

our listings are almost immediate on google. are you sure your site isn't listed but listed on like page 150 for the keywords you're listed for?

Most of our sites get indexed pretty quickly I just wish they would index pages other then the front page

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. If I type the name of the site on google, it shows up in the list of results. It even shows a preview of some content. But when I click the "Cached" link it shows my page with "Communications link failure Last packet sent to the server was 0 ms ago."

This error was caused when I was pointing to a local database rather than my hosted one, and its fine if the bot picked up this text and indexed it. But what I find odd is that after that it hasn't indexed the page, which would make since if the bot never visited thereafter - but it has been visiting 2-3 times daily.
