Hello, an explanation and an apology

Hi all

Well, you probably know that I got banned from GMS yesterday because I foolishly posted an email from the guy who got sentenced for fraud and child pornography. The email was meant to demonstrate that Rufus Foulkes, a partner in Ikandi Media until December 2007, was a totally smooth operator. However, I failed to notice that in his email he named HIV+ models.

Yes, I was a total idiot for not double checking before I posted. When I checked the thread again the following day another UK webmaster had replied pointing out the isue and had also emailed the moderator. I immediately emailed Mark with my apologies for this error and asked him to remove the names from my post. I also made an unreserved apology on the thread.

Literally 5 minutes later I was banned, the whole thread deleted. I received an email saying that they couldn't censor my post because it was against there principals and they had moth-balled it for legal reasons.

Now, I will apologise once again for my very stupid error, here and anywhere that wants me to post one. But somehow I think the way in which GMS dealt with the issue was pretty poor and for that reason, I won't be going back. Hope I'm welcome here!

Apology accepted. It doesn't seem an issue that should have so much drama around it but that's only my opinion.

While it's a pity to see another good person banned from the GMS community, -- particularly a program owner who has had a lot of good things to say and contribute to the community -- I'm really pleased that you'll be contributing here.

A well managed community recognizes the difference between a one-time, unintentional oversight and a consistent, ongoing ,lack of respect for the community policies and people. Needless to say, banning someone for what was essentially a typographical oversight (and which, in truth, wouldn't even have subjected the community to any liability, since the GMS community isn't based in the UK) is an appallingly inappropriate way of handling a situation such as that. But then, you already knew that

I hope you stay around and enjoy the community here.

This is all so funny. I wonder when the next big thing here on GWW will have everyone tromping back to GMS. People seem to flip flop between the two. Get mad here, go there; get piss there, come back here.

Boards ... they'll drive us all to AA, but we can't seem to live without them.

Well, exactly.

That's why it's good to have a couple of different communities, so everything isn't dependent on any one person (or group's) control.

Yep..been that way since the beginning of time. Wasn't too long ago everyone..well, not everyone, but many were a tad ticked off at Lee too.

Adam, Chip, and others that have been banned, left "the other board":

I'm betting that by the end of Phoenix or sometime soon after that, there will be some changes made.

I hope ALL who WANT will come back to that board then.

There is so much EACH board contributes..sometimes by one unique thread or by many. Having as much input from everyone as you can get in this industry is very valuable to all of us.

I won't say "Can't we just get along"..cuz I know we all won't at times.
But I think a civil, professional, and inviting tone can be accomplished that makes most people comfortable.

But we have to face it.."we" (us gay boys, bi boys and other gay friendlies") do get our drama going at times! Sometimes it's just plain enjoyable, sometimes it gets out of control. It certainly reflects real life.

That affected GWW for a while , and this will affect GMS for a while.

It's all very odd. Those who want to be in power, and those who just want to communicate.
