Another model scout: Michael Osterfeld

Has anybody heard of Michael Osterfield?

I just saw a craigslist posting leading to a website that is probably one of the most pretentious model recruiting sites I've ever seen.

Here's a couple of quotes:

"OSTERFELD is the single largest, independently owned entertainment scouting, booking and media development company of its kind in the world."

"We are the single producer of Internet content for the largest adult male entertainment company in the world"

Here's their contact page, which probably goes to one of those $15 a month multi-extension voicemail things... except interestingly, none of the addresses or phone numbers reverse::

And their "media contact" is an 18 year old kid with a Myspace who claims to be a porn videographer:

And the kicker is that the company claims to recruit for fashion and porn. Commercial and porn, maybe. Fashion and porn... that's a non-starter.

Has anyone heard of this person/company?

I am guessing that probably will give you some insight into this guy, seems like he just does whatever, and probably doesn't have much of a record of doing anything at all for that long of a time.

I've had some contact with the guy, since he claims to be located in Chicago. But I can't decide if he's legit or not. His website sure doesn't help. And this is the first I've seen of that MySpace page. Weird. I'll post later with my experience (if I have one).

Interesting.

The domain registration for the site shows the registration address to be in Renesselaer, IN. Google maps shows that address to be a single family home in a nice, generic looking community.

And I'm really curious who the "largest adult male entertainment company in the world" is that uses Osterfeld exclusively as its single producer.

For that matter, who *is* "the largest adult male entertainment company in the world"?

I believe Chi Chi has the largest company with everything she has acquired, and we know he isn't the single producer.

The whole thing is bizarre. Like I said, though, I'll gladly post my experience if and when I have one. One of the guys he "represents" is working for me soon. I'll find out more info. Or, pm me if you want the info privately.

I have nothing personal against talent scouts/agencies/etc. so long as they opperate within the "fair" standards of the industry and not give adult any worse of a name. :snake:

No idea if he's legit or not. Doesn't sound promising, but what the hell do I know?

What I DO know is that if you use talent scouts, you'll end up having the same guys on your site that everyone else has on theirs, even if the model insists they haven't done any adult work before.

Most of the model scouts who send me pictures of potential models always tell me the guys have never worked for anyone before. One of them once sent me a a picture of a Sean Cody model with the watermark photoshopped out.

If you want exclusive models, hire a full time scout and pay him/her more than God. Oh, and don't tell anyone who he/she is.

We actually have two scouts that work for us (and only for us) steadily and do an excellent job, plus a handful of others that send us a model or two now and then.

I completely agree that using scouts in general, particularly those who refer for multiple sites, can lead to problems. The biggest problem we've run across is the scout insisting on fucking the models (instant termination from working for us when we discover it)

Osterfeld caught my attention from a Craigslist ad he was posting, which led to the pretentious website with the completely ridiculous claims.

The sad thing is, a lot of models will buy into the lies and end up getting burned.

Hey there!

While I have never posted a response to anything about me online, or elsewhere, I was sent a link to this by my friend Ben at Bad Puppy and thought I would drop a line Just to clear a few things up for you all.

First, we are legit. So if you are in need of models, we have them. Second, we are the largest because we recruit in excess of 400 models monthly of which we place most of.

The truth is that yes, several models that we get do lie about what they have done, but we also get a lot that are really new, which is the key to my business. And my contacts with other companies, allow for us to check out models and make sure they are legit.

This is not, of course, about sex. We work with several companies on an ongoing and consistent basis. This, for me at least, is about making money.

I suppose, lastly if you dont like the site that is unfortunate. michael osterfeld dot com was just recently redesigned to match what other companies in scouting have been doing (view chiseledmale dot com or wilhelmina dot com) to attract models and scouts. As far as where my site is listed, well - i started this company when i was 19 and at the time i lived in a small town working 2 jobs - as i am sure most of you have as well.

Of course, we pay very well, top dollar and all of my clients do as well. No one is getting ripped off i can assure you.

I'm confused.

Could you tell us who "the largest adult male entertainment company in the world" is that you are ""the single producer of Internet content for"?

Could you tell us what percentage of your models are placed in high fashion modeling opportunities vs porn, and with what companies?

And, since Michael Osterfield, Inc. is listed as the owner of your domain, could you tell where Michael Osterfield, Inc. is incorporated, since it's not incorporated either in Indiana or Illinois?

And comparing yourself with Wilhelmina? Come on. That's one of the oldest, largest, and most respected *model management agencies* (not scouting firms) in the US, does not work with models in the adult industry, has an actual office (several of them, actually) and employees who are not 18 year old "porn directors".

You may be a legitimate model scout, and that's perfectly fine. What's not fine is grossly overselling yourself and implying to the people applying that you're some huge company with a lot of resources.

My guess is you're one 25 year old guy with a couple of friends who posts a ton of Craigslist postings and gets people to apply to model, 90% of which are interested in fashion modeling, not porn.

I seriously doubt that 400 porn models are hired each month throughout the entire industry, let alone with one site.

It's fine to be a model scout, and perhaps you're good at it and supply models to a number of companies. Just don't bullshit about it, particularly not to the industry.
