Most of what I see these days is just sleeze that makes a bit of money in the short-term.

If you're not passionate about what you're doing.. it's going to get old very fast and this will just be another "job."

For me, I *have* to approach my sites in my own way using my own creative style.

I'm sure that means that sometimes I end up with weird sounding blogs or movie reviews sometimes --- but I feel like I'm putting my fingerprints on my own design. Otherwise I feel like I look like any one of countless other porn sites that overflow from the ether.

What is it that you want to say? Or are you just looking at your business in terms of a spreadsheet? I personally think that we can do both. Furthermore, I often write about gay porn movies created by directors who actually do have a style, a look and something to say.

And it is people like that who make the things that I enjoy promoting the most. Thus, my business.

I think it's pretty common to get bored with it.

What I hate is when the spells of boredom get closer and closer together, and taking a few days off doesn't do enough to clear your head of the bordom.

But, the nice thing, is you usually can take a few days off, no problem.

Wow, my thoughts exactly! I decided to visit my local porn video rental store today (first time in about 4 months) to see if there were any DVD's that looked totally different than anything I'd ever seen before. I ended up renting a trannie DVD with a latin midget in it. I'll watch it tonight to see if it cures my boredom!

Yeah, I got bored sometime last year, after 8+ years of doing the same. Shoot, update, shoot, update, and so forth. The funk lasted a couple of months. Then I decided there's nothing else I can do anyway. So I found a good photographer, redesigned my sites, started networking and marketing, and now I feel as if I started afresh.

I have a blast with what I do. Before it was boring, but then when I came back in I changed some operations around, and now I have entire blast with what I do. Since I changed things around our DVD Sales are up 130% from the past 6 months, and memberships... in the past we were receiving about 1 a day, now we're at between 10 and 12 memberships per day. And I love the new ventures I made!!!

You know, I've only been in the industry since last May.. which I realize that compared to a lot of you guys, I'm still walking around with a rattle... But I do think I've become pretty inured to the actual content.

Taking into consideration the stumbling across stuff like 2girls1cup (or worse), dealing with content that comes in to us on a daily basis, and having a heated with my co-workers about how incredibly silly female talent looks with the excessive preoccupation with fishnets that's always cropping up.... It's taken porn into a whole new world for me..

I wasn't really a huge porn user before, and I watch more now than I ever have - but for business purposes, not for personal reasons. I find I'm always judging whether or not the content would do well for us, and figuring out how to work with it....

Even though I look at it differently, Adult Film has become more interesting for me because it's something I can actually use to challenge myself, instead of just something that I clean up after. :smoke:

Of course, I suppose that this could change in nine years but we'll see.

Maybe something you can try, Lee, is picking up a hobby if you haven't one. It might get your creative juices going. I know I like to have multiple things going at once.

That's a great idea...I guess that working from home gets to you after awhile and getting out is the thing to do OR find something (like a hobby) to get business off my mind!

I ran into this about a year ago. I'm still new, about six years into the industry and have so much more to learn and grow. I became numb to it all after shooting three films a month for a few years. But I look back at the days where I worked my ass off for a very small hourly wage 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. While I work way more now, I'm working for myself and has it's gratification. For me, I focus on getting better with each Production. I'm getting out more to the shows, events, etc. which really helps because networking in this industry is key. I think anyone who spends a great deal of time working in his office/home all day every day, which I know a great deal of us do, some depression tends to kick in without any communication with the real world ;-)

Most importantly, in my opinion, you gotta have passion in what you do, or it just becomes routine, gets boring, etc. Thinking outside the box is always a great tool if you have the motivation to put it into action. I also feel, if you're doing something for money, that in itself is going to get old after awhile. I'm not at all saying money isn't key, but I'd rather make good money doing something I'm passionate about than make lots of money doing something that bores me.
