    Other Webmaster Boards

    Hi all,

While I'm fiercely faithful to GWW and the gang here, I realize there are other boards out there that, in my new job capacity, I should be covering. Can anyone point me in the direction of a couple of other WM boards that you think are got-to-be-there for gay sponsors.

    Thanks
    Michael

To be perfectly honest with you from what i have seen if you are looking for 'serious' boards to hang around on with topics of discussion for gay wm related issues GWW is the only place.

You might however like to check out Netponds 'alternative' forum or Ynots gay board but other than that, i dont know of any places I would honestly bother with. Most boards seem to be B.S orientated nowadays unfortunately

    Of course i am biased

Thanks Lee. From what I could see that seemed to be the case, but I thought I'd ask in case I was missing something. And I agree, the people here work very hard at helping one another, but also at being a community.

GWW's always been like that, even way back when I was struggling to put up my first sites.

    Thanks
    Michael

actually the other gay board that i frequent is 100% business. sure, there arent 100 new threads every day, but every thread that is made is about business. theyre short, to the point, and accomplish the goal of a webmaster messageboard. if i want to chat about favorite pets, colors, dildos or get laid, ill go to gay.com.

Sometimes 100% business is just fine, but when you also want to network and get to know people this is the place to be. Over time, those that are serious about the biz know that anyone here will pretty much bend over backwards to help you with questions, or a problem or stick with you til something finally clicks about how to do something. It's the perfect mix of a lil'bit community and a whole lotta industry know how.

    Michael,

As well as the boards, always remember that some of those boards are attached to resource site.

A lot new of marketers tend to forget that. I don't want YOU to

Be sure to Mancheck is listed in sites like GWW...

    http://www.gayaw.com/
    http://www.gayadultwebmaster.biz/
    http://www.klixxx.com/goecommerce/
    http://www.gay-empire.net/

In addition, to the boards Lee mentioned I read rockmehard.com

I do hold the same biased card as Lee, but that comes from being the first online since 1998. There is room for everyone online.

And don't ever feel you need to explain yourself, mister If you didn't ask about other boards to do your job, then I would have been disappointed. You have always made this community proud, and asking about where to do your job effectively adds even more pride!

    My best,
    Gary-Alan

    You know..

Thinking about it, you would probably be best of posting on regular AEN forums like avslounge.com, avsfriendly.com and the likes.

Just because you want to target gay specific webmasters thats no need to narrow down your audience a lot of gay webmasters do work with AEN sites and those types of forums would probably be an ideal audience for you

Thanks for the tips Gary. I appreciate it. Hey Bec, thanks for the congrats (and thanks for your personal telephone tutoring that helped me get here).

Lee, yours as well, but regarding the two "avs" boards you mentioned, this came up yesterday in my discussions at MANcheck.

Of course, everyone knows that we used to be an AVS, but because of VISA compliance rules had to stop using that term. So what, if any, detrimental effect could you see with MANcheck, or companies like us, participating in forums like avslounge.com and avsfriendly.com, and/or listing and advertising there?

I realize these boards existed before the compliance regulations came out, but what are your feelings?

    Thanks
    Michael

I personally think that you could get involved in any board. Why does it have to be just gay related? There are some webmasters that hang on on just normal resource site boards..

Most boards you can talk about any topic you like. I'd just start visiting them and introduce yourself.

I agree. I read many boards, and I know they're primarily straight, but there are gay WMs on the boards that I read such as PJs, XNations, and I believe there are some on Porngata, which is not much of a business board. That place turned out to be more friends that hang out together. But pretty good if you want euro traffic.

Well I'll throw in my two cents here.

A lot of boards are indeed just plain boring and many of the 'straight' one's do tolerate gay topics, but many do have an underlying homophobia as well.

For myself, and this is merely my opinion, I find that AdultWebmasterHangout is a relatively gay friendly place but it does deal in some networking, good SE/Traffic discussions but not a whole lot of AEN stuff. Mainly I think because not many of the members are that hardcore into it. However it does have good resources, good discussions on a myriad of business issues.

Also bentboard which is new is more in depth and will I think be very gay friendly as its being run by that naughty aussie CuriousToyBoy who really is a hoot.

I also think that the more we participate in those straight boards, the more we can learn and teach them as well. After all a lot of straights run or partake (or attempt to) in the gay market. From a business viewpoint its worthwhile to take them into account and not limit our participation to just 'gay' boards.

Like i said, merely my two cents worth

Michael, I would HIGHLY recommend you join these two boards:
    - cozycampus (lots of newbies and lots of advice to always give)
    - greenguyandjim (lots of pro avs / freesite builders)

    cheers,
    Luke
