Do you use a stage name with your customers?

I started a dating site for mature men and bears and its starting to get a few of members.

I've always hung out in these circles and have made friends so some people know my face and real name. But on my site I use a stage name as the webmaster.
And I want to start doing promotions at bars and sponsoring some events, which means mingling with people, some who know me already and some who dont.

But its kind of weird using 2 different names with someone depending on where Im talking to them.

So I ask you, is using a fictitious name a MUST, or is it no big deal?

I just dont want a member who turns out to be a psycho and finds out my personal info and decides to fuck with me.

So do you all use a stage name when dealing with your members/customers?

I use a "stage" name instead of my legal name. The only exception to this is when signing legal documents, such as model release forms and the like. I don't use a stage name to hide anything, simply as a protection. We do occasionally get the stalker personality on the site that chooses to "follow" one or all of the members of the house. Most are harmless, but I don't want to take any chances for me or anyone in the house.

We all use our real names on and off model forms. However, when replying to customers via email we only give out the first letter of the last name, ex. my name is Derek Tanner, I sign: Derek T. Our customer support does the same. However, when speaking with customers on the phone we only use our first names.

I use a stage name for everything. I have some friends that call me by my real name, some that call me by my stage name. Most call me by a name that is a combo of my real and stage name. That has caught on so well even relatives of mine call me that!

I was going to post my real name here, but that seems weird, as everyone knows me as Dean

The problem is that nobody believes my real name is Phil McCrevice so I had to use a more believable name like Jasun Mark.

I feel like our stage names are just as "real" as our legal names since we gave them to ourselves. While I do have a stage name for privacy, it's also fun to have a different name. Like a superhero name or something.

I'm not super hyper-protective of my real name and don't think it's the end of the world when fans find it out; a handful know it and it's only been a problem once (and a minor one at that). I don't want it to be a problem again, though, so I do keep a lid on it as much as we can given that we have 24/7 spycams.

The people I am most wary of are the ones who are intent on finding out my real name, or say stupid stuff like if they join I'll know *their* real name and it isn't "fair" if they don't know mine too. Those people I want to shoot.

My nickname is Lippi since I went to school. All people know me as Lippi. Only my family calls me by my first name which is Reinhard and I donīt like that name much. So I am Lippi for you as for others. This sounds more real to me as my real name. I donīt feel Lippi is a stage name, because I AM Lippi!

I've always used my first name on everything. I feel like it makes the sites more personal. I could just as easily do it with a stage name as well, but I really want to come off as honest as possible.

I started using a misspelling of my last name on press releases to keep my nosey neighbors out of my business. Google used to only have me running in races, now they have me quoting about every porn company in the world

I started a campaign on my real name to try and bury the porn end of it as well.

Just so we're clear on this.. my name really is Jasun Mark.

Spelled just like that. My middle names are Burridge Dakota.

I've never wanted to use a stage name and if I ever DID make a porn again, I'd continue to use my real name.

If anyone wants to Google me, they're more than welcome. In fact, if you just Google "jasun" I come up as two entries on the first page.. one of them in the top spot.

I'm quite proud of what I do and I'm not really concerned with anyone not approving.

Most of my friends go by their drag name or their Sister name. I am the only one of my friends who is actually more famous by my real name.

It just makes life easier to use your real name, even if it is difficult to spell.

I started out using a stage name many years ago, but have since gravitated to using my real name. I only use a real first name, I never use my real last name. But to be honest, with the 2257 statements etc. it would not be too hard for some nut to find us...reverse phone lookup, etc. I guess I figured that it did not matter if the nut wanted to kill Marty or wanted to kill Michael. Both of them are me...and both are easy enough to find. ;O)
