2008 European Gay Porn Awards Winners Announced

(Berlin)On Sat.17th May, 2008, the brightest and best of the gay porn industry gathered at the ufaFabrik International Centre in Berlin to celebrate the very best films, actors and directors from both within Europe and beyond. The event, which is Europe’s biggest gay porn awards show, was hosted by the London-based Queen of Drag Bingo, Ms Jonny Woo, and a total of 25 awards were handed out – all decided by the votes the general public via the EGPA web page.

The indisputable success of the night was Sk8erboy Film Productions. Not only did they win 4 awards – for Best Fetish Film (Fucking Scouts), Best Solo Performance (Alex, Dating Alex), Best Duo Performance (Alex & Marc, Sk8erfun) and the Maleflixxx Gold VOD Award for the Top European Studio, but the studio’s Managing Director, Christian Felten, also collected EGPA’s prestigious La Branlette D’Or – quite literally, the Golden Wank. This award is given to one person each year who the gay porn-loving public believe has made a significant contribution to gay porn – not necessarily just in the past year, but also prior to that. With his record of performer, director and producer, Christian Felten is certainly a worthy winner; and he join’s Czech film director, Vlado Iresch, in EGPA’s Hall of Fame.

Other German studios to gain accolades included Wurstfilm (Perverts: Best Fetish Film) and Cazzo (Best Hunk Film: Berlin Privat 6); whilst French studio Citebeur collected their first EGPA award for Best Black / Latino Film (Matos de Blackos 3).

Best Overall Film was awarded to Sauvage’s Wet Dream; with the Eurocreme stable also collecting Best Director (Simon Booth), as well as awards for Best Bottom (Ashley Ryder) and Best Group Scene (Builder Boy). Meanwhile, the ever-popular BelAmi scooped Best Young Stud Film for Rebel, together with the award for Best Newcomer for its fabulous new star, Paul Valery.

Other awards included Eromaxx’s Bi Sex Party 3 (Best Bisexual Film), OTB Video’s The Fuck Club (Best Twink Film) and AlphaMale Media’s Out On Parole (Best Bear Film). But UK newcomers MenAtPlay did remarkably well on the night, collecting two awards for their Executive Pleasures 1 (for Best Stud Film and for Julian Vicenzo as Best Top).

In terms of non-European representation at the show, the big winners were undeniably Hot House Entertainment. Not only did the American studio grab the GayHotMovies.Com VOD Award for Best Actor (Francesco D’Macho in Private Low Life) and Best Cum Shot (Jason Ridge in Communion), but also took the trophy for Best Non-European Film (Communion) and the Maleflixxx Gold VOD Awards for the Top Non-European Studio. Another American studio, Titan Media collected the award for Best Three Performance (Steve Cruz, Francois Sagat and Rocky Torrez in H²O); whilst Lucas Entertainment gained an award for Michael Lucas’ La Dolce Vita as Best DVD Cover.

The event was rounded off by a fabulous after-show party at Tom’s Bar in the Schöneberg district of the city.
