Do you still design site to fit a 800 pixel monitors? I do but would like to start designing them to at least 1000 pixels.

i was one of the 800x600 holdouts, but that's over for us. we only design in 1024 now, and our sales went up across the board with that change.
most of our surfers are at 1024. also we now have more surfers at 1280 than 800, and a site designed for 800 looks really REALLY tiny in 1280, so i'd say it's a good idea to check your server stats or google analytics to see what resolutions most of your surfers are using.
my sites fills a 1200x1024 screen, but they are ment for 1600+, i see no reason to make them any smaller than that. wont have to remake them until many years now + traffic and stuff is much better on my tgps after i changed them to same size.
Yes, go bigger.
Not tiny like this forum. I got 3 inches of blank space on each side. haha

Here are the stats of our last 6 million surfers and as you can see 800x600 makes no sense anymore coz if you also check the country stats you will find out that this is mostly traffic from Asia and Africa...
1024x768 2851160 45.43%
1280x1024 1865198 29.72%
800x600 550223 8.77%
1440x900 366689 5.84%
1680x1050 190175 3.03%
1152x864 189258 3.02%

you dont have to scroll sideways. http://www.mytwinkpass.com/ anything narrower would just look stupid in higher resolutions
i count the logos outside the borders as part of the design, but it wouldnt scroll anyways thou since its set as BG pic
I read that most people don't maximize their browser windows, and prefer to have the site no more then a 1k at least. But like bass chick said, check your site stats and design for the bulk of your customers, not only their actual specs, but also their page view habits. You want those tour pages to pull the customers in right?

Bill, I hear that saying is on your motor home! :yeah: I was filing model releases when JJ called you Saturday morning about meeting you. :bush:
Now, after I got my naughty comments out towards Bill... :bush:
Think about it... Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, so on and so on sell the widescreen and HD computer monitors. The way consumers buy, many want top of the line.
Here in our office, all of our monitors are either widescreen or 21" even a couple bigger.
I was at a bud's house over the weekend, he had a 24" monitor. So yes, I too say bigger is better. I swear my arse didn't say that! :jerkoff:
