Anyone else having trouble getting paid by white tiger ?

Anyone else having trouble ? we can't get the balance owed on our last titlle . No one will rerspond to email or calls, and with spanky gone, there is no sale rep to call :-( it seems like after 4 sales reps in one year, the whole thing fell apart after Spanky departed . He was a good guy

We used to buy from White Tiger when they distributed for Hot Desert Knights. Then Kurt left White Tiger. Then one day we called and a guy named "Spanky" was there. Then things went to hell and we stopped ordering from them, stopped shipping them our DVD screeners, then there was a bunch of drama with Spanky so we said screw them. So I can imagine that things are getting worse with them. We've never been happy working with them. We're now ONLY buying from Marina Pacific, Eurocreme, Pacific Sun somewhat, and Hot Desert Knights.

they tell me kuet was a sweetie, he left before I came on board as staff ( I've modeled almost three years ) yeah, it seems as if they had mamoth turnover on their sales staff, and at this point have pretty much given up on distributing any other then lyntons private labels. But, that is what small claims court is for. It's a shame some guys have to beaten up like this to do the right thing .

i'm not on this end of the biz, but anytime i can get paid in advance, it guarantees that i won't have to go to court. that's always a plus

Problem is, virtually NOBODY in the DVD distribution end of the biz pays up front. (And, to be honest, it's because the distributors have trouble collecting from the large bricks-and-mortar chains like GVA, Goalie, etc.)

We've been lucky in that we have always gotten paid by MP. However, I think every distributor on the planet is slow pay at least some of the time, and more than a few are mostly "no-pay"

Very true Chip. I think it is interesting that they owe someone money and wont return calls, but they have no problem sending someone a certified letter when a balance is due on an account. Oh well, maybe they will go away... good luck on the collecting...

yes, interesting how deadbeats are the one who sream the loudest when theyare owed money. It appears that all good intentions aside, white just did not work, and the company exists todayy at all, to distribute Lyntons private labels. Mark and Matt got involved at all because someone knew spanky, who did in fact make sure everyone was paid while he was there.

So mr porn team, if you 'd like movies, get them from us direct. no more white tiger :-(

My understanding is that Lynton has been around forever distributing his own studios titles and basically specializing in distributing clearance/overstock stuff (the 4 hour videos you buy at wholesale for 4 bucks each).

When AJ and I toured their offices, I was completely amazed that they could find anything at all in their warehouse... it seemed to me like the most disorganized mess, and I could totally see their receiving something and having absolutely no idea where it was. Rob said they had one guy who knew where everything was in the warehouse. AJ commented that he hoped they had a TON of insurance on the guy

It is indicative of the economy. When there's too many hands reaching out for a share of the pie, inevitably some day, the pie will run out.

That's why I tend to work direct with all sales channels. The fewer links in the chain, the fewer weak links.

It is me and the models, me doing the editing and authoring, and me shipping to the sales portal.

Middlemen are dead, DVDs are dead, except for direct-to-consumer sales. Unless you're Michael Lucas or ChiChi with 10-20 years under your belt - or falsies - the retail DVD biz isn't about you.

Every time a DVD distributor is unable to pay, is another nail in the coffin of DVDs. I do sell a few thousand $$s a month in DVDs, but it is through one sales channel, and no middle man between me and the ACH on the 28th.

If your product is less than Michael Lucas or ChiChi, hightail it to NaughtyBids or through your website direct to the consumer. The consumers are still buying, its the middlemen who are screwing up the deal - what is left of the deal.

I just had a 3rd Party DVD reseller stiff me last week, and his sales portal got shut down. The biz isn't about retail like it was 5 years ago, it is about direct to consumer and VOD.

I would disagree.

It is true that if you've just entered the market, it will be a tough sell to market a new line of dvds and/or to get retailers or distributors interested in carrying it.

But if you have an established line and are willing to put some effort into it, distributors do serve a meaningful purpose. I don't understand what people are saying about the middlemen or distributors "screwing up" the process... we sell a ton of product direct-to-customer through our retail site, and a ton more through Marina Pacific. All of our older titles continue to sell, and many of our reissued titles are selling 100+ copies a month.

So while there can certainly be bad distributors, and product that isn't strong and therefore doesn't sell well, it's wrong to generalize the situtation and say that all distributors or "middlemen" are bad, or that DVD sales are dead, and that only two or three studios are big enough to make any sales.
