We are looking for studios with little or no distribution that want to get their dvds on the markets.
Imagine it like AMVC. We have the printers and duplicators to duplicate the dvds for you, once the DVD is shipped to the customer it is a professional DVD. We will provide you with stats on sales. Studios can be paid bi-weekly or monthly.
Studios that we duplicate for are paid 70%

We also have a very successful DVD Rental Program. We pay studios $4.00 for every rental or we will purchase 10 copies of each unit and not pay residuals.

1) This works for us.
2) If it is "crappy", it seems to be working for consumers since our DVD Sales are up 125% from last years margins.
3) Our new customers become repeat customers. A good 85-90% of our customers become repeat customers and return regularly and purchase from us at least once a month.
4) Sales average between $150.00 - $400.00 (That's a per-order figure). Just this past weekend we did just below $600.00 from 4 customers.
4) It is being cleaned up by our webmasters.
5) It works for us with the search engines.
So with all of this stated it appears to be impressive to our customers and I can back it up by the books.

My point was that your sites you have listed in this post and previously are not that impressive looking. Which makes me think, why would someone want to sell their products with you instead of any other distributor or make their own 300 templated sites.

And stats can be made to fit anything anyway you want it. Even at Hooters they have handwipes that say "58.3% of statistics are made up."

Just this past weekend we did just below $600.00 from 4 customers.

$600 in sales from 4 orders when you have 300 stores doesn't seem terribly impressive to me. We do more than that in one day from one store.

I guess there are different business models, but to me, quality over quantity seems like the best way to go.

Up until I as a studio was terminated 6-12-08 for asking about stats and late payouts - I was paid 50% on DVD sales, and only after the 10th of the month as his AEBN check arrived and cleared!!

The bookkeeping there never made sense.

It was typically reported that 1s & 2s of my DVDs had sold each month. Within 4 hours of changing my site's buy now buttons from JJ to my own, I sold two dozen DVDs.

My own experience is quite different than the ad above.

Nick, I believe you should state the other half of the truth.

You were compensated more than 50% for DVDs sold. We paid you a flat $15.00 for each DVD sold, your products were listed for $19.95. which was your suggested retail price.

Also, you were paid 50% on memberships both recurring and initial for the life of your content.

You were not terminated for asking for your stats. You were terminated for the chaos of which you created with Dun & Bradstreet, contacting JJ's partner at Dun & Bradstreet speaking of JJ's upsetness with Woodforest Bank for the chaos they created. Secondly, your demands became so demanding and high that it were not in our best interest to continue working with you and for you. You expected that everything be dropped and start working for you and only you which we obliged for quite some time, once we did oblige with your demands we were failing at other "projects." So, that's why you were terminated.

The shopping cart buttons on your website were only working a portion of the time due to the item numbers in the database were wrong because you wanted to have the shopping cart item numbers in relation to your model index file, and we had them as DL (item number), TD (item number). Then everything was corrected, then further problems arose with the shopping cart buttons when new titles were added. All of this was straightened out.

The book-keeping did make sense to you. Everything was tracked in excel spreadsheets which was provided to you, and at the end of every month, an email was sent to you.

Checks were not mailed out when AEBN paid us. All checks are cut at the same time AEBN pays us. If AEBN paid us at the end of the month, the checks would still get cut on or around the 10th of the month.

The problem with you is that you demanded that checks be deposited into your Bank of America bank account. And with the construction of the roads, it made it difficult to make deposits into your bank account right away on the correct date. And we did this because you were claiming to move to Europe. So no, checks were not mailed because AEBN paid us and we waited for AEBN to compensate us.
Also, we don't receive AEBN checks, we receive direct deposit. You know this. So with the checks being received and cleared is a lie.

Per your titles sold. Your titles were not selling the best.

And finally, you were being paid between $300.00, and there were several months that you were paid more.

We have contracts that were made by our lawyers which not only protects us but the studios. The contract was sent to you - 2 copies. Both with JJ's signatures, 1 for you to keep, 1 for you to return. You refused to sign the contracts and return to us. In the contract it states that we will provide you with a log-in to our merchant account system so that you can see what has sold (you are able to see what has totally sold since we have been in business). We offer this to the studios should they ever have any doubts or concerns that they may or may not be getting paid correctly. Which we do pay correctly and on time.

Make that TWO. I got an email with nothing but BS slung all over it. I also got the same response from every single person I spoke with at the XBIZ Summer Forum......why are you doing business with him? I am being nice and using much more PC language than some people I spoke with about "Sebastian Pass".

I tell people what is up with him. He is nothing but scum and I am not sure why anyone does business with him. You should see the mystery PM that I got about him that had to do with my previous drama with him.

For those that don't know, I have NEVER had dealings with JJ. He decided one day to join my paysite and then told another webmaster that I had his content up. I have never had anyone elses content on my site. JJ just threw me in the drama out of no where, and I just found out why.

I got a PM from someone explaining that the reason JJ did that was because he wanted to know what CCBill would do in the event of a DMCA notice of stolen content because he had plans on using other peoples content on his membership sites.

Now is what I hear the truth? Who knows. Is it completely possible? Yep. I said that exact thing when he was asking for DVDs from producers to sell him DVDs. I wouldn't send him a DVD with my content if he was the last person left in the porn business. LOL

Without getting deeper into the drama, I think it's reasonable to say that there's been an awful lot of controversy surrounding Sebastian Sloane Productions and its related properties and principals. People need only search the archives here and on the other web boards if they need any further background.

I try my best to reserve judgement on people, and I've never had any personal issues with JJ or DerekKT in spite of the fact that both have said some rather offensive things to me on the boards at times...

However, in this case, I would suggest that anyone who is considering working with this company would probably be wise to search the history of this board and look at the combination of experiences that many people have described, the conflicting statements that JJ himself has made, and draw their own conclusions.

PS:

While I can imagine someone who had less than ideal ethics doing what Dean described to theoretically test a DMCA situation, I can't imagine why CCBill would take action on a DMCA complaint, unless the site were hosted by Cave Creek.

There's nothing in the DMCA that creates any liability for a third-party billing provider, and anyone with an ounce of sense or understanding of DMCA would know that. Of course, that doesn't stop somebody from trying something dumb.
