A cute red-head with freckles and a beard became the new Mr. Muscle Bear Cub for 2008. I think his name is Michael (I was a bit tipsy...) and he was by far the audience favorite.
Emcee Tom Orr, who is also a MuscleBearCub.com model, did an outstanding job rallying the crowd with his opening number written especially for this contest. It was a little tough getting contestants to be brave enough to get onstage, but five hot guys gathered the courage to be harassed by Tom, myself and Sister Bambi Dexterous. If I'm not mistaken, it was Bambi that coaxed the winning contestant to get up on stage. See kids, it pays to listen to the big, bad nuns!
Each contestant was not only subjected to stripping off their shirts (and sometimes more!), but they were also given intellectual challenges. Tom demanded that each compose a Bear Haiku on the spot. Not an each task, but it gave us insight into their personalities. The tall, trim otter who was second runner started his Haiku with the phrase, "I like older men..." which actually had the correct number of syllables and sent an endearing message to us daddy types.
However, the winning contestant clinched it with a line from his Haiku that included the phrase, "I like pancakes..." delivered with plenty of Southern charm. Wrap him up, I'll take him!
