The Natural Progression Of An Adult Business?

I was just talking to one of my friends who has been bugging me for months about getting in to the online adult industry and he asked me what the natural progression of setting up an online adult business was.

Now i was actually quite shocked at this, primarily because i didnt think he was actually serious about doing it but, because when i thought about it, there are actually quite a few different routes an adult business could take starting from day one that could shape how well you do in the future.

So that being said, do you think there is a specific way one can grow an adult business in to more than just a hobby, for example, starting with free sites, progressing to tgp'ing, aen sites, seo, basic paysites, affiliate programs, content production etc, or do you think that each persons skill sets define how their business will grow in the future?

With the business environment changing so rapidly, especially what actually makes solid porn sales, there is really no natural progression. But, I would advise starting with some sort of free site like a blog and against starting with a pay site.
