Almost two years to the day disgraced former congressman Mark Foley resigned after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit instant messages with former congressional pages, state officials announced Friday that he won't face criminal charges in Florida after they concluded a long investigation into his associations with teenaged boys.

Investigators determined there was "insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges," according to an announcement released Friday afternoon by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Foley, who at the time was the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, resigned Sept. 29, 2006, hours after ABC News questioned him about instant messages with former congressional pages, some of whom were under the age of 18 at the time of the exchanges.

The House of Representatives denied requests from FDLE "to review any computer equipment or emails that Foley used while in office," according to a summary of the state investigation, so investigators were unable to obtain original records of e-mails and instant messages. Foley also denied investigators access to his personal computers, according to the report.

If he wouldnt let investigators access his personal computers, get a warrant and dont bother asking for his permission.

And to add insult to irony, the government made us go through all that rigorous record keeping to make us prove that 30 year old models weren't underage because they were so adamant about "protecting our children", but I suppose if you work for the government it's okay to engage in that kind of thing as long as you don't allow yourself to get caught.

Mark Foley is a dreadful waste of a human being, but sending text messages that say "do I make you horny" to a teenager is not really a crime.

Along the same lines Palin who is next in line to be president, and her husband, have a "right" not to testify by subpoena until AFTER the election???????? WTF!

Foley and the good old boys network get taken care of by their fellow publicly paid publicly elected officials who make it their living to take as long as possible to do what's right and fuck us over as fast as they can, and as much as they can, until the infrastructure can't take it anymore and we have to bail ourselves out, and they stay on the payroll. :snake: :bunny:
