    Post External HD Question

For some reason, and i have no idea why, i seem to have partitioned an external hard drive i have just found, there is about 1GB of data on it and im wondering if anyone knows how i would go about removing this partition?

Is it possible to un-partition a hard drive once it has been done?

    Regards,

    Lee

You can definitely add/delete/modify partitions. I do it with an ancient Ontrack Disc Utilities disc that I got years ago with an old IBM hard drive. I think the same program is licensed by Seagate, Maxtor, and Western Digital and sold with most of their new hard drives, but it's crippled to only work with their brand of drives; mine was a generic version.

So if you have a utility disc that's the same brand as your drive, it probably has the utilities to delete the partition.

Alternatively, you can get Powerquest Partition Magic, which allows you to resize, add, and delete partitions very easily, but I think it's spendy ($50 or $100 or something.)

There may be a way to do it from within Windows, but if so, I have no idea how.
