DudeVu, JizzFlixxx, etc.???

Hi All

My latest project has actually shifted from an image-only blog to a video blog (with some images as well).

When affiliates offer a direct Flash Video link, I use it for the video...

But most affiliates provide .wmv videos ... so I have been downloading their vids to sites like DudeVu or JizzFlixxx (just signed up with them) ... and then linking the video from there to my site. Works great.

I was also going to use XTube ... but their new rules no longer allow anyone to download preview clips that you did not film yourself (although I see people breaking this rule all the time).

I was wondering though -- just how "stable" are sites like these? The other day, DudeVu was down for several hours (or more) ... and, therefore, my site was essentially down as well (except for the few scattered images and old posts)! It worries me to think that I am actually relying on someone else ... if one of those sites completely shuts down a year from now, I'm screwed! Half of the videos from my site for that year would be gone...

And how many viewers am I losing to those sites? Which I realize is only fair since they are providing a needed service.

I found a way to convert the .wmv videos to the .flv format ... and then have them play using my own server/bandwidth ... but, GEEZ, my bw usage is going thru the roof! Not sure this option will work.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a cheaper place where I can purchase bw/store .flv videos and then link from there to my site?

Or do I just need to alternate between DudeVu and JizzFlixxx and hope for the best?

Another option is using sponsor hosted flv files ... there are a few out there that offer them for bloggers and tube use.
