I remember several years ago, a few companies that advertised across various industry boards heavily used to use positive shaving to attract more affiliates, by having their existing affiliates talk about how well they were converting on the industry boards.
Positive shaving is basically, adding sales to lower conversion ratios for 'high profile' affiliates so that they will turn around and say 'this sponsor is great go promote them' thus resulting in more affiliates/traffic for the program.
Do you think positive shaving still goes on in the industry today?
Of course the benefit to program owners of positive shaving is that it also costs them a lot less than traditional marketing campaigns do on various industry boards such as GFY.
