Why Is There No Loyalty From Adult Webmasters To Their Sponsors?

So i was just thinking about this, with so many new affiliate programs launching or re-inventing themselves over the last few years, why dont adult webmasters have any loyalty to one or two specific programs?

For example, a lot of the time i will see a program post on a message board how payouts are being raised, or how they are launching a new site and automatically, loads of new affiliates will send them traffic and sales.

Now, what about the programs these affiliates used to promote? You know, the ones that have been making sure their sites converted well, the ones who have been paying out on time for years, the ones whose free content these affiliates have been using without question for the last few years?

It would seem like the affiliate/sponsor relationship we currently have in the industry is very one-sided, in favor of the affiliate webmaster, not the sponsor program.

Do you think this should change? I mean after all, if a program has been doing their utmost to ensure that you as an affiliate can make as much money as possible from their sites, for years and you suddenly 'change' sponsors, that doesnt seem all that fair to me.

Your thoughts? Is there any loyalty when it comes to the affiliate/program relation?

    Regards,

    Lee

I don't have that problem at all.

I know that if I really need a top affiliate to help push something or get some pre-launch hype, I can get on the phone and get some promotion.

But like any relationship, it takes cultivation. I'll send out personal emails to all my top affiliates often, making sure they have what they need or offering them something exclusive. I'll make sure to get them to tell me how I can get more placement or ask them to hype something.

I'll look after them.. get them perks if I can.

Always remember that although you're paying them... they don't work for you.. it's the other way around.

    Jasun,

You are actually a perfect example of what i am talking about...

How many people will start promoting the Jake Cruise sites now that you are the affiliate rep over there?

How many of those same people will stop promoting, or dull down their promotion of FratMen now you are no longer part of that company?

Even though FratMen has paid them hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in the years you were there, i guarantee that a lot of affiliates will move away from FratMen and start promoting the Jake Cruise paysites, eventually leading them to forget about Fratmen all together.

    No loyalty to a program.

Meh... I mean, I still see lots of promotion of Fratmen going on.

but yeah.. there are a lot of people ramping up promotion of Jake Cruise now...

Maybe they're loyal to me? :jasun:

There are definitely some that are loyal to the person that gives them good customer service; that is not unique to affiliate programs or our industry. I have seen consumers switch car brands when the salesmen they always sought out switched dealerships; more commonly someone following their favorite hair stylist when s/he switches shops.

In the example you make with Jasun, there is definitely loyalty and that is to the person that has taken care of them for years. Good content is hard to promote without a guy like Jasun and a guy like Jasun needs a good program to promote.
If the affiliate continues to promote the prior program, then they are being disloyal to the rep that has cared for them for years. If they switch programs they are being disloyal to the program that has provided revenue for years. Either way, there is loyalty and disloyalty in the scenario.

    Not at all

If I am making money with an affiliate program I am NOT going anywhere no matter who the sales person was!! I will keep what I have and add the the other also if I feel it is worth it. I hope I am understand the thought here.

Wish there were some big affiliates for my site!

Personally I don't care much about sponsor reps as I have found only very few who really know what they are doing. Many contact potential webmasters and they always promise me everything when I ask for sponsors having this or that but at the end of the day there are very few who really have what they claimed to have and who know what they're doing.

I think i'm working together closely with a handful of paysite owners or sponsor reps and I would be loyal to them as long as they keep word.

I think paysite quality, honesty (no shaving, traffic leaks, short cookies...), good promotional content are more important than the sponsor rep behind that.
I found very few so far who could offer promo stuff of real value...

And if you don't know that sponsor and the people behind it then you won't be loyal if it's only about numbers and mathematics instead of people behind it. I would drop 80% of my sponsors as soon as I see that another program is doing much better. It would make no sense to act different.

Sure Jasun seems to be a nice guy but Jake Criuse never converted for us so i doubt it would change with some special promo tools or some nice words by him. If Jasun would prove me wrong I would be happy of couse

Of course there are some sponsors like Muscle Partners, Manifest Men of Bad Puppy whom I would contact and work something out before I would switch to other programs but I wouldn't care about most others from which I've never heard in person...
