WTF? Why Do There Seem To Be More 'Abuse' Sites On The Straight Side?

Ive been checking out several straight sponsors over the past couple of days and it would seem to me like a lot of them, tend to have sites in their portfolio that are geared towards humiliating or abusing the women that appear in the content.

Why does this seem to happen a lot more in the straight side of the industry rather than on the gay side of things?

Ive seen a few sites that quite frankly, if i were a model on them, i wouldnt have even gone through with some of the shoots.

Is it really so hard to make money on the straight side of the business that these site owners / content producers need to turn to pushing the boundaries in porn to the extent where some of the content could be considered as extreme/obscene?

    Regards,

    Lee

I asked a question similar to this on GFY several years ago and got a lot of responses, most of which pointed to the same thing:

In straight porn, it seems that a majority of the men (the largest segment of viewers of porn) want to fantasize about dominating or controlling the woman. That's why facials or coming on their chest is such an important part of the scene, it's a way of showing "ownership" of the woman.

I think that gay porn reflects (in general) a more equitable arrangement between the partners; versatility is more common, and even in the rape or lack-of-consent fantasies, often at the end of the scene the "raped" person is asking to meet up with the perpetrator again.

It would be interesting to see if straight content that didn't contain the elements of control and domination could be made to sell well.

I think that its more that its so EASY to make money in straight as the market is so much larger and diverse. There are many program owners and producers who will leave no stone unturned to find the last bit of revenue to extract from the market.

I feel that it's a progression - the more extreme stuff gets more clicks in the promotion because of the curiosity factor, which results in a bigger push on that content, and more exposure, which in turn results in increased revenue.

Its a disturbing trend (the sleep assault sites are the ones that disturb me the most), but some people are not very ethical when it comes to 'whatever sells.'

    You know that is interesting.

The straight program owners that i talk to regularly, not new program either, ones that have been around 10+ years, are always telling me it is actually HARDER to make money on the straight side of the business than it is on the gay side of things because there are so many programs pushing the same types of sites.

This was also why several years back we saw a large progression by predominantly straight affiliate programs pushing in to the gay marketplace, because revenues on the straight side had dropped so much but the gay industry was still profitable beyond compare.

    Regards,

    Lee

I always supposed that there were better ratios with the gay market (more expendable income perhaps?), but larger profits by volume with straight

it is harder to make money str8 than gay - conversions are lower overall than gay. on the other hand, shock sites and microniches sell very well. larger profits only happen in straight if you can get enough traffic to make them happen. sure, the big programs can do it, but there are plenty of small programs where the owners are barely hanging on.

and shock sells if you do it right. to be fair, some don't.

btw, a lot of str8 men don't particularly like women other than sexually, so a misogynist site would probably hit the spot if done well.
