How Did the Term Twink Originate?

I know what a Twink is, I'm curious as to how it came into usage. Anyone know how, when, who?

Back when i was a newbie Gary was doing a webinar chat for Maxcash and he explained it to us all as 'Teenage White Into No Kink'.

twink = twinkie. Cream filled sponge cake that only appeals to children. It was actually a pejorative term as far back as the early 70's when I first heard it.

No nutritional value and available at any corner shop.

But then I joined Mattachine Society at the age of 16 (yeah I lied about my age) so that I could get the newsletter and attended meetings when I turned 18.

yup, twink was from twinkie, and the best place to find them for rent in hollywood back in the early 70's was on las palmas just below hollywood blvd and the gold cup...

I don't remember hearing the term until sometime in the early 80's maybe. I have no idea when or where I first heard it, but I immediately knew what it meant!

If this started up in the early 70's then I was just 18/19 and still very closeted! Thanks for all the replies, this proved to be a very interesting question!
