Producers - What Do You Do For Hair/Makeup Artists?

I was just talking to a friend (non industry) about some adult related stuff and he was wondering what he would need to do in order to get in the business as a hair and makeup artist, i wasnt actually sure if any studios actually used these types of people?

Do any of you folks that produce your own content/dvds actually use hair and makeup artists and if so, how do you decide who to use?

If not, do you let the models take care of that stuff themselves or do you prefer to edit our blemishes etc after doing the shooting of content?

Yes we do for both our male and female sites. He needs to get in with a photographer or videographer to get on a list. Of course there are any number of job referral sites as well. (Model Mayhem, etc) And he will need a portfolio.

when I worked for Fratmen, I'd have arrangements with a couple hair cutters. They'll allow me to get people in quickly and open early at a moment's notice.

I know nothing about makeup so when needed I'll go to neiman marcus and "brainwork" one of the associates at the men's cosmetics counter. ( cosmetics do not store well , some go bad within the first 3 months so for model safety I like to know that the product which is applied is "fresh" and "applicable" for what I am doing. )
now hair I do! ( interpreted: model is compensated for "loss" and/or "odd colors" )
