"TUBE" sites

Hey everyone...

I have been seriously considering starting my own "tube" style site and had a few questions.

1. Do sponsors normally have a problem with affiliates using their content on such sites?

2. Do you think it is better to block other affiliates from posting sponsor content?

3. Is it worth it?

4. What hosting company would you recommend?

Most sponsors that provide affiliates with video clips typically dont mind if they get used on the affiliates own tube site, at least that has been my experience.

Yes, i would most definitely stop other webmasters from posting sponsors content, YOU want to make money from that sponsor content, not people posting clips to your site.

On the subject of whether tube sites are worth it, i just recently launched Tube Tender in to beta testing and initially, the figures im seeing in terms of sales to traffic arent spectacular but, they arent bad either, you have to remember, 99.99% of surfers hitting porn tube sites are looking for free content, any dollar you can squeeze out of these surfers is great because it turns them away from 'free porn' users to 'paid porn' users.

Right now our median conversion ratio on http://www.gaytubeaccess.com is 1:600, which as i said, isnt spectacular, but it isnt bad either considering the surfer is used to finding porn for free on 'tube' related sites.

I am also sure that once we go beta with our niche specific tubes, this number will be considerably lower.

As for hosting of your sites, National Net comes highly recommened by myself and several others on the GWW Community you may want to check them out

there are much easier and less bandwidth-intensive (read that as expensive) ways to make money in porn. i would not recommend someone without a good amount of porn marketing experience try this.

If he is using sponsor hosted content though which is what it sounds like he wants to do, bandwidth costs will be nominal $0.02

IF you use sponsor hosted content ... that means leave the movie on the sponsor's server and don't copy it over to yours ... then yea, costs could be minimal. If you intend to allow others to upload content to share, you'll be in a world of (financial) hurt for bandwidth costs if you don't know how to market your site properly. Just more things to consider before getting on the Tube Site bandwagon ... I by no means consider this a "beginner" project. $0.02

We support tube sites and provide content to you in many forms, including hosted .flv files that you can hotlink (thus saving you bandwidth) or zipped wmv files that you can download and host yourself. We also have loads of video FHGs that you can use to rip the clips from too....it just depends on what you are doing and what software you use.

As for hosting, I second the NationalNet recommendation for top quality adult webhosting.
