Photo Galleries: Slideshow or Thumbs?

I am re-building my site with new software and I need to decide what to use for viewing photo galleries. Some of the galleries are very large - 500 or more photos.

Here's my question: Do users prefer to view photos as a slide show or do they prefer to look at a page of thumbnails and only click on the ones they like?

We offer both options since I have found that it is mixed. Just as some people like to watch the entire dvd some like to jump right to their favorite parts whether it is seeing the model in underwear, or his ass, cock...whatever gets then hard.

I say, give them the option and make everyone happy.

Is this inside a members area you are talking about or in a 'free' area?

If it is in a 'free' area then go with thumbs, the more pages you have the more chance you have at getting traffic.

If in a members area, why not offer the option of both like Lee mentioned above? Although personally i prefer using thumbs because it gives the member the impression there is a lot more content if they have to keep 'clicking' to see it

My question was regarding the membership area.
