How Many Programs Launched Because Owners Couldnt Get Sales Themselves?

I was wondering what you folks thought about this question, specifically when paysite owners decide to launch an affiliate program because they are incapable of or, arent making enough in-house sales to cover costs?

Im actually pretty certain that a large chunk of paysite owners launch their own affiliate programs because they simply dont understand or are not capable of putting in to practice the methods needed to generate their own sales.

Do you think this is true, that paysite owners launch affiliate programs because they dont want to have to generate their own sales? If so, what percentage of program owners would you say this is true for today?

    Regards,

    Lee

Honestly, I think a lot of paysite owners launch a site because they like watching guys having sex (or else they like having a bunch of horny guys they can frequently talk into having sex with them after the shoot is over) and are trying to find a way to subsidize their hobby.

Which also tends to mean they have no idea how to get traffic

I think most webmasters learn on boards that an affiliate program is part of being in business.

It never occurred to me that some might start affiliate programs because they can't get their own sales. interesting

    Other option

Well, I may ruin some statistics here, because in my case it's not "Owners Couldnt Get Sales Themselves", but "Owners Do Not Want To Get Sales Themselves".

I make good money as a primary producer because I shoot exclusive sets and videos. I can afford running a small site (GayFruit). It's just a part of my existence in this business. I treat it as a hands free business. I do not promote it, because I don't want to waste my free time. And still the signups cover the costs! So I keep it alive, not because of the money, but because I have more chances to hire my models. My boys are happy, my members are happy and my affiliates are happy, so I'm happy as well.

I agree with Squirt - I learnt here I should start a program for my site.
