How do you pay models: cash or check?

Just wondering what the standard operating procedure is for paying porn models. I'd imagine the bigger companies pay by check and the smaller ones pay cash on the spot but do some kind of reciept?

Cash, up to $600 - when the 1099 kicks in.

I document the transactions on my side, for tax purposes. No phony entries, because, as we all know, we have model docs to correspond with shoot days.

i pay cash, but they must sign for it on both the model release and the receipt i bring that is mostly pre-filled out but has places for some of their info.

We pay by check (and have the model sign an acknowledgement of payment as well), but in some cases if the model requests, we'll cash the check for them.

Ditto. We do exactly the same thing.

We mostly pay by check if we are filming in our home town, and often give them a ride straight to the bank to cash it. But we do also pay cash, and have them sign a receipt, etc.

Here's a dumb question: when you pay by check but cash it for them on the spot, do you make the check out to the models name or to "CASH"?

the models name , that way it's proof the model was paid since most checks require signature and model idents on the back of the check.

I pay in cash , reciepts are obtained however.

We pay by check. All models sign a form that we have had made. Every time a model is paid, it is entered unto this form. The model signs his initials to it, signs the bottom of the form. And we do 1099's on each model. Also every time they are paid, they sign a receipt of payment which is in their contract.
