Christmas Trees - Real Or Fake?

What do you prefer when it comes to your Christmas tree?

Last year we bought our first ever fake Christmas tree and we're using it again this year, should have pics of the dog helping me decorate it shortly, just have to get it setup first haha

    Regards,

    Lee

I love the smell of real trees, but for safety I like fake trees better.

My parents house burned down one Christmas because of the xmas decor and tree.

Anyway on a happier note, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it.

When I was 5, my folks bought a silver aluminum Xmas tree, so that's what I associate with the holidays.

I finally got one on ebay a few years ago. Some of you may have never heard of an aluminum tree, so here is a picture.

After years of Christmases where I get pitch from the trunk on my hands that lasts through Christmas and left over pine needles that I seem to keep finding year round, I've decided on the most realistic of all fake trees and I LOVE IT! I have pine air freshner that's better then the real thing and the tree is pre lit! No more untangling lights or anything. We have eggnog, listen to Christmas music and have friends over to decorate the tree and actually enjoy it now. :king:

Fake trees are the bomb. They are getting more and more realistic (expensive) each year. I will say though we purchased a fake with flocking, it was beautiful, however, after storing it away and pulling it out the following year...it looked like someone had pissed all over it. There was some sort of chemical reaction, I'm assuming with the heat, and it discolored. We ended up using it outside. (I took off the lights first and replaced them with outdoor lights)

Sacrilege! All of you crazy fake tree users - except for the aluminum tree! I totally want on of those (my mom unearthed hers this Christmas and I`m green with envy)

Trees must be real! Must, must, must.

    Nothing else will do.

to me, part of the holiday season is going to the lot - we've found a family owned lot that has been in the same spot every year for 40 years, and they're super nice. you walk around the lot smelling pine as you look for the tree that will help you celebrate the season. once you find it, they cut the trunk so it smells even better, and then they tie it on your car.

and once you get it home, it smells like christmas

Oh my mom had one of the aluminum trees for several years .. and each year she'd change the color theme of decorations. The one that sticks in my mind to this day is the all pink ornaments, silver garland and tinsel with white mini lights and of course the silver tree. She even rigged the rotating light to have different shades of pink gels on it.

Didn't even bother putting a christmas tree up this year...lately i've been entertaining the idea that Santa may be another personality of Satan, since their name is quite similiar if you switch the letters around. They also both seem to favor the color red, one enjoys the fiery pits of hell, and the other enjoys fireplaces. Ho hum..

Wow, Bec... you mom was crafty. Move over Martha Stewart!
I'd have loved to see that, though.

    Merry Christmas!

Being Jewish, I grew up with no tree at all....my other half from past history with family trees has kept saying no....so this year my other half broke down and gave in to my requests for a tree. House smells great.....we now have been spending time in the living room which never gets used and actually having people over xmas day for lunch....I think it's changed him out of his xmas blues.

Gave up caring about Xmas when I was 10 or 11, never celebrated since, never had a tree or such things. Don't think I'm missing something and I'm happy once "the time" is over again and gone for the next ten months or so. Just not my cup of tea.

    Patti,

I agree. Part of Christmas is going out, selecting and buying the tree then bringing it home and decorating. Decorating is a family affair. When I was married and had kids around the house, I would string the lights and then sit back and watch, with eggnog and rum, as the wifey and kids decorated the tree. Then the last step, the placing of the angel on top, was my job.

Now that my daughter and 2 year old granddaughter have moved in with me, we are continuing the tradition and it was just a delight this year to see my granddaughter's eyes light up as we turned out the room lights and then lit the tree. Almost magical.

    Bill
