Do You Think Some Affiliates Give Up To Quickly?

I was just chatting with someone on ICQ for the last 30 minutes who was telling me that she had gone through over 25 different sponsors this year and that she had used so many because she hadnt made sales to *ANY* of them.

In instances like this, do you think it really is the sponsors fault that the affiliate didnt make any money or do you think the affiliate wasnt patient enough to actually generate sales?

I mean sure, i can understand that some sponsor programs paysites wont convert for everyone but going through 25 affiliate programs in the space of less than 12 months just seems a little odd to me.

That is using a sponsor for less than 2 weeks during the year before swapping to the next one and in my view, 2 weeks simply isnt enough time to tell is a sponsors offerings are going to convert for you or not.

Your thoughts, do you think this is what a lot of affiliate webmasters do? Promote a couple of paysites from one sponsor, not make any sales in the first week then move on to another program, and another, and another without putting any effort in to building up traffic/sales?

    Regards,

    Lee

As someone who was doing just that very thing I would like to say that perhaps a lack of the fundamentals of being an affiliate mat be to blame. I know that I was under the impression that you built a site and watched the sales add up. I had absolutely NO CLUE as to what was expected of me as an affiliate.

After many years of trying and failing I can honestly say that thanks to this great board and the exceptionally forthcoming members, I now have a better understanding of what I need to do (and learn) to become an successful affiliate.

I also understand that I have a whole LOT MORE to learn and hope that with the continued help from all of you, I will be able to count myself as one of the better adult webmasters.

Thanks Everyone and have A Happy Holiday!

we always work with affiliates that ask for help, perhaps more affiliates should think of doing that! Or at least checking forums like this one and asking questions.

I think I've read that 90-99% of affilates fail at generating any profit when it comes to marketing affiliate products online(not sure if this includes adult related products). Most newbies think they just have to sign up, create a simple site to put up an ad, and wait for sales to come in. Most don't know anything about generating targeted traffic.

What's giving up too quickly? It depends how much work the affiliate is willing to put into it and how much talent the affiliate has for figuring out the market and all the things that go into making successful sales campaigns. If the affiliate has neither the willingness nor the talent, quitting quickly is probably a good thing. The rest of us will be happy to make the sales.

A tad self righteous, but true none the less.. There is huge gaps in the new aff's understanding and the net as a whole in most cases, But to fill in those gaps, is the same as cutting one's throat, we know what they are, but to share the info is plain stupidity.. But make an e-book instead !
