Id speculate that it takes in to account the amount of times the pages uses specific words and spits out the percentages based on how often first, second and third person perspectives are used.

First Person Perspective - I, Me, My
Second Person Perspective - You, Your
Third Person Perspective - He, She, It, They

That certainly seems to be what it is based on from the initial glance i took at it
