XBiz Adult Industry Market Report

Has anyone seen this or perhaps a previous year's edition (not sure if this is their first report or the latest of a series of annual editions)? It seems like it could have some very useful information but it's quite expensive...$470 for the full version and $280 just for a summary. It's the only report I've seen so far that purportedly has genuine information about financial matters which the adult industry normally keeps very private, so it should be interesting.

It certainly sounds interested however, i dont recall being asked about anything to feature in a report so because of that, i wouldnt get to excited about the data contained in it.

Its probably nothing more than a marketing tool for their show/site sponsors (and this probably who they got the data from too contained in the report).

For it to be a true representation of the 'industry' id like to know how many of you folks reading this thread were asked to add data to it?

i wonder how good the information is though not because of who sent it in but if it is worth buying because it has new stuff in it not just stuff you can read on boards

XBiz is pretty much a streamlined, professional outfit. I think the data here is as good as it would get out in the mainstream. I'd like to hope so anyhow...

That said, $470 for the full edition?! Yowza... anyone know if they have an affiliate program?!?

I was thinking the same thing, Lee. Neither Zac nor I was contacted to add information to the report, nor was anyone else I've spoken to in the past few days. I received an email from XBiz sometime last week, spamming me about the report and I was curious....until I got to the price tag! I'm still curious to know where the information comes from for the report, so maybe I'll contact some friends over at their HQ and see what I can find out. I'll let you know what kind of response I get.

Lavender Lounge Research (tm) has also produced a report on the State of the Adult Industry. The 200 page report consists of 199.75 pages of ads from billing companies and from blowhards that are still coasting on money they made in 1998 when they had no competition. Interviews with the same people that advertise and a few charts and graphs fill the remaining quarter page.

That is pretty much what im thinking the XBiz report is going to say.

Apart from the fact that so far, not one person i have spoken to (regular webmasters like you and i, program owners, traffic brokers, content providers, processing companies and even a couple of people who have been in the biz for longer than i have) has even had any input on the 'data' and some of these people drive millions of hits to their sites and own companies that make millions of dollars a year.

Ive also not found anyone yet that operates gay websites or deals with gay traffic that has had any input on the report so im wondering just how relevant it would be to those of us with a gay marketing presence online.

That's a little steep. I'd say that information is only worth $469.95 but maybe I'm just a cheapskate. I don't think I'll plunk down the $ for the Xbiz report either.
