You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Are There certain Words You Wont Use In Domain Names?

When it comes to finding and registering new domain names, are there certain words that you typically try to stay away from that are not considered 'illegal' words?

For example, typically i will stay away from using the word 'boy' in a domain name, likewise, ill typically not register a domain that has the words 'abuse', 'extreme', 'obscene' etc in them because i feel that the name could conjur up thoughts to the surfers (and authorities) that the content on the name might be considered borderline illegal.

So, are there words that are not considered 'illegal' that you try to stay away from when it comes to registering new domains for whatever reason?

    Regards,

    Lee

i only have 1 domain right now but i think it makes sense to stay away from some certain words especially ones in niches you dont understand not just words like you mention

I've tinkered with this "moral dilemma" for as long as I've been in the porn industry because to gain SE traffic you can easily offend some surfers:
Examples jesuslovesgayporn.com and there used to be a site I traded with called hornyfaggots.com {its dead now} I worried that trading with sites like this would anger the church going folk that engage in a bit of porn and lets face it I dont know too many gay guys that like the word faggot unless well you are manhandling a good btm boy and a lot of them like that word but overall there are some really offensive words that arent socially acceptable but yet they do drive in traffic kinda a catch 22

And so let me ask str8 up here Bec ~ would you also not use any lesbian off key words such as carpet muncher - diesel dike - I cant really think of any lesbian like words that compare well to "faggot" at this very moment but that made me curious how you would handle a lesbian equivalent and would you ??

Absolutely -- if I personally find a term offensive, I will tell you I do, and that it's why I've chosen to not support/list the site.

these are words we won't use:
    teen
    boys
piss (ex. pissedoffhunks.com or any other variations with the word piss in it).
    escort or referring to hustlers
drunk or insinuating in someone being intoxicated.
    anything referring to drug use

I know some sound stupid. but I came across a site last week that appears to be doing very successful and it had the word "tweeker" in it. Of course it's doing well, it's attracting tweekers. These people make homemade videos when they're partying. They didn't show it on the videos, but you could just tell.

From a strictly business angle the word gay in the domain of a gay paysite tends to do worse than the same content presented on a domain with out "gay". I think it subconsciously flags the site as being created by straight for gay...thus a degradation of their presumptions as to the quality of the content.

How so? How do you get that?

The site has "gay" content. The word "gay" in the domain defines the product a little more. How do you get this? I wouldn't see why and disagree with this.

Because it's in a sense redundant. If it's a gay super site that features many niches within the gay niche itself, than yes using the world gay in the url would apply and not effect ratios. For example a site that's called "gay super twinks" with all other factors being equal, content etc, would do worse than a site called "super twinks". Another example would be "gay bears in heat" would do worse than "bears in heat". The subconcious flag that's thrown up is that a site creator that is gay wouldn't name a bears site "gay bears..." because in his word he doesnt day "hey i'm going to hang out with my friends the gay bears. Someone who lives a lifestyle in which he counts bears among his contemporaries wouldnt refer to bears as "gay bears". The surfer see's this and questions the site's credibility. The site will do joins of course, but it may be the difference between 1/80 and 1/200.

Do you know how many times we thought about buying the domain? LOL. 85% of our content is bareback. 30% of that amount is internal cumshots produced by others that we purchased.
This would really appeal to the "tweeker" communities. The only things stopping us from gaining these domains is:
1- It would look as if we were supporting the tweeker communities.
2- It could open up a can of worms from producers we team up with on our membersites.
3- I don't think it would be a very good idea for us and it could possibly harm the models if their peers found out.
4- Would it attract federal attention to us? Perhaps the Gov't assume we were the producers of the content, getting them tweeked out, and them producing the content.
    Know what I mean?

If it weren't for those factors, then we would probably own it.

HOWEVER, I do recall speaking with Gay DVD Empire. Spanky's Boys produced "Tweeker Gang Bang." And because it projects that tweekers are fucking in a gang bang, I've heard that DVD sells very well.

After thinking that this domain may end up in the wrong hands and be used for something totally inappropriate.... I have taken it and redirected it to the movie you suggested. At least this way its not causing harm. Who knows it may even pay for itself ??
