Facebook - Business, Pleasure, or a little of Both?

Just curious how many folks here have Facebook accounts.

And if so, do you use it for personal social networking to find old friends and acquaintances, or do you use it more professionally to network within the industry? Or a little of both.

Personally for me, I only joined a few months ago and started using it only for personal use. But I started doing some searching one night and found a few guys and gals from this board and other places that I have been in contact with from the industry and thought it was a good way to keep in touch with them too. So I've been adding "work" related friends as well to my ever growing network. I find it's both fun and interesting to see what people are up to in their personal lives, and have a way to reach out to them at the same time.

Just wondering if others do that too and who here has a Facebook page. If you have a page and want to connect, feel free to send me a friend request. I'm Marc Goldberg and I'm under Philadelphia PA. I know I'm friends with a few of you already on there which is nice.

You know, i opened a couple of MySpace accounts so that i could promote some of our non-adult products on the network and to be perfectly honest, the results werent all that they were cracked up to be.

Subsequently, ive stopped using Myspace and other social networking sites as business tools and quite frankly, i simply dont have the free time to have accounts on MySpace or FaceBook for 'personal' use.

I never really understood people who worked online, that also played online to relax with things like social networking sites, i mean damn, i build and design websites everyday, why would i want to do that when im NOT working and NOT getting paid for it too? :eek:

i dont have a face book or a my space and dont think that i ever will have i do not get them at all if you want to make new friends go out and meet them in person not on the internet where you do not really know who they are saying they are

To me, the purpose of Facebook is not to meet new friends, but to reconnect with old ones, and find new contacts you might be able to network with. I am not looking for a new BFF from Facebook. Besides, isn't it safer to meet people on-line than in person these days? Of course they could be lying, but if you are just keeping them as a "virtual friend" it's no biggie. If you find out they aren't who they are, just defriend them.

I use facebook too keep in touch with friends I moved out of Cali and also went digging around yesterday trying to find old high school friends I lost touch with

I use Facebook for the same reasons and have found it a very productive addition to my daily routine. I'm able to be more in touch regularly with my network of friends with not much effort. Compared to periodic phone calls to friends to stay in touch or, really dating myself here, writing a letter, this is a way to accomplish the same goal with less time involved and to do it while I work online.

I use it primarily for my personal life...I do have a few sponsor affiliate reps on my friend list, and it is fun to get to know them better!
