How long do you think it will be until we see a decline in free submits to link list sites?

We're already seeing them start out on the route that paid partner accounts went on the TGP with lots of them requiring that you 'sign up' for a submitter account before you can list your free sites, do you think that we're going to see the link lists start going the way of the paid to play TGPs in the next few years as the economy gets worse and more and more people jump to adult to make a living?

From what I hear, there's already a decline.

But, I'm not sure we'll see the rush to paid accounts that the TGPs did.

The big TGPs all switched to paid to solve two problems, first, the decline in sales that started years ago, and made all the TGP owners grumpy, and second, the cheaters.

So the TGP owners decided to try to sell traffic rather than make their money off of sales diirectly from their page - thus starting the whole paid accounts phenomenon.

They could do that because they had too many submitters, and their traffic was profitable.

But they could do that because at the time, their traffic was growing, and google liked (and still likes better) tgps.

Now, everybodies traffic is falling, linklist traffic falling especially fast. So, while some linklists are trying paid accounts, they don't have the leverage that the oldtimey tgp owners had to start extorting their submitters to pony up the bucks.
