I have been working in the porn business since 1998 when I first appeared in a trashy low-budget porn movie that is best left forgotten.

I made a deal with the directory. Instead of the measly $300 he offered me, I'd do two scenes in exchange for $600 worth of the video at its wholesale price.

I was escorting at the time and had a website so I turned around and sold them on my website and to my clients. I think I made around $2000 or so when all was said and done. (Even went back to him at one point and bought more copies).

As for my friends, they thought it was a good idea that I was getting into porn, as they knew it would accentuate my escort career nicely. As I have grown older they have supported me in my decision to retire from escorting/production and go into other business-related activities regarding the industry.

Honestly, most of my friends now are affiliated with the industry in one way or another. Outside family I don't talk to many people who aren't involved with it.

I've been in this biz 11 years or so. I don't tell a lot of people, because of the shock reaction. You really have to think about who that person is before letting them know what you do.

I did tell my mom, and she was ok with it. She thought it a much better career then some others. I told my sister, and we haven't spoken since. She is a fat head bible pounding prude.

I have gotten some interesting reactions in the past for sharing my career choice. That is for sure. I find most men I have told immediately want a free pass and I tell them I don't ask for a free car or meals because your a salesmen or a chef.

The women look at me differently, but really didn't mind to much. I even had a few come and do some work with me.

It's just easier to say I'm an internet consultant now, and not hassle with the looks and shit.

I'm sorry your friend treated you in such a way, at least you know where he stands now. Perhaps he is jealous that you work at home, while he gets dressed daily to drive to a job. I hope this doesn't ruin your friendship....

I started in 1996. The internet was barely usable and I don't think DVD was invented yet. I shot video with Hi8 and edited on 3/4" tape.

    1996 for me also.

Started with an amateur site of self-pics of my boyfriend (at the time) and myself. Used Adultcheck avs for billing.

Branched out to shooting content of Latino on our travels and started the paysite in 1999...glad I did since we all know what happened to Adultcheck!

I have been in the industry since 2000. To be exact, March 5th. I was living in Goshen, Indiana. I was a Senior in High School. A friend was an office manager for a very small studio. The owner needed some evening help. Shortly after I graduated High School, that summer I ended up taking over my friends position and became the office manager.

I left the industry in 2001 until very early 2003 and came back to work in marketing for a online cam house. I was with them until they went out of business in 2005.
I moved to California in 2005. I worked for SX Video doing different various positions with them. Basically a little of everything from shooting to marketing, to wholesale, to advertising for Flesh 4 Men.
I left them in 2006. I went to a community college for business for a brief period. And now, here I am.

My family, friends, everyone does know what I do. They don't care. It wasn't a shock. They're happy as long as I am happy. Hell this is the 2000 era, nobody really cares unless your hurting someone.

Got my first affiliate checks in spring 99, have lived off this biz full time since fall 99.

I tried to start a paysite with a partner who owned a stripclub in 1998 - lost money on that. But really I started in 98, just made no profit.

I avoid telling most people what I do, but my family and close friends know. To the rest of the world I'm just another net consultant.

I started back in 2002 by starting a few porn blogs, got my first affiliate check a year later.. luckily they're growing in amount each and every month since then (knock on wood)

I also run a paysite with my friend and I'm currently working hard on launching more of them along with a brand new gay affiliate program which will go live in a few weeks.

I usually don't talk about what I do with my friends unless asked directly; then I'm usually honest and tell them I "do porn" for living and, from my experience, this starts a long long conversation usually ;-)

For some reason I haven't and probably will never tell my parents and family.. not that I am ashamed of what I do, but I feel that it would disappoint them. They wouldn't understand the way I see it - that the porn is business like any other and to make money in porn is pretty hard and requires even more hard work...

I shot my first (self) video in 1986, started selling it in 1993. It is still on-line, and sells to this day.

I created a searchable database of apartment complexes for rent across the U.S. with the help of various apartment associations and was an internet consultant starting in 1995. I then sold my apartment search website (rentweb.com, now defunct) and went back to college.. then got into porn in 1999, published my first porn site (squirtit.com) in 2000.

Friends and family all know, though I don't talk about the biz with them much. They all know who I am and that the porn stereotype is the farthest from who I am.

That is a very positive attitude! I try to feel that way myself, but my feelings get hurt so I stopped telling people.

I came up with the idea to shoot custom content in mid 2005 and have been doing it since the end of that year. So almost 4 years now...

Almost everybody I know knows what I do, but there are a few people (mostly the older generation) who I don't reveal this info to, because I know they wouldn't understand.
